In that case, please don't spread misinformation.
> One particularly vexatious argument concerns the lack of uniform spellings between British and American English. The simple reason for this is that England and America went their separate ways before anyone became unduly rigorous about spelling words the same way every time. The firm nailing down of language happened in earnest during the 1800s, on both sides of the Atlantic, and thanks largely to the reforming zeal of American lexicographer Noah Webster, it was with markedly different results in the U.S. than in Victorian Britain.
>
> Seeking to wrest control of the language from the British ruling classes, Noah wrote three books that aimed to make a tidy pile of that mess we were talking about. One on grammar, one on reading, and one on spelling. His first—originally titled The First Part of the Grammatical Institute of the English Language, then The American Spelling Book, then The Elementary Spelling Book—became the standard text book from which American teachers taught spelling for 100 years, and it was from reprints and reissues of that original text that Noah began to subtly refine words, spelling them according to how they sound.
@Karnivore you are absolutely insufferable
Honestly
Please don't spread misinformation, Max.
Thanks.
Honestly.
Stop.
Do proper research, first.
I make a mistake every time I engage with you
Then research properly, first.
Research what
It's anecdotal
Insufferable asshole
I'm blocking you actually
Max, please don't spread misinformation.
Thanks
Please learn to properly research things, before you post nonsense.
By the way, your meme is pathetic
You will learn soon enough
The meme is only a meme; nothing more.
obviously it wasn't George Washington that changed the spelling.
although that was supposed to be the funny part
it had nothing to do with British being bad or Americans being good
The meme was lost on you.
The meaning of the meme was that Washington was so mad that he even changed the English language, which was false, but still funny.
I was honestly interested in seeing a source that removal of the U in colour was due to wanting to save printing costs.
The reason is that similar things also happened in American English, precisely because of printers back in the day.
Such as punctuation going inside quotes in American English, where they remain outside of quotes in British English.
So you see, Max, you are the insufferable asshole, not me.
You continually represent misinformation as truth.
When I then call you out on it, instead of taking responsibility for your mistake, you elevate this into a personal argument with me.
I really have no understanding of how your mind works.
Since you are a fan of YouTube videos, here you go, Max:
Truth hurts sometimes, Max, but it doesn't give you the right to act like a child.
Please do continue to keep my blocked. This will be much easier on those reading my corrections of your nonsense, as there will be no subsequent, completely unnecessary and unacceptable personal attack by you.
Thanks!
