Just an observation.

2019-12-14 23:13:52 UTC

There are definitely some links posted that need to be watched and perhaps discussed.

2019-12-14 23:14:18 UTC

Are usually used General to Post Live YouTube links

2019-12-14 23:14:40 UTC

I

2019-12-14 23:15:25 UTC

I started watch a video posted a few days ago, and I’m trying to hunt it down again. LOL

2019-12-14 23:15:54 UTC

Use the search function it'll give you a selection of things you can search for

2019-12-14 23:15:54 UTC

Like I said, I’m just making an observation and suggestion.

2019-12-14 23:18:23 UTC

By the way, @Deleted User , what are you going to produce with that drilling/milling beast?

2019-12-14 23:25:56 UTC

I do a lot of work on firearms, the bed on this lathe is 31 in between centers so I can turn barrels

2019-12-14 23:27:52 UTC

You know, I was __*EXACTLY*__ thinking that you could do that...

2019-12-14 23:28:05 UTC

👍

2019-12-14 23:28:34 UTC

Barrel blanks are relatively cheap

2019-12-14 23:29:13 UTC

If you haven't been there check out Green Mountain barrels

2019-12-14 23:29:22 UTC

Sometimes they have clearances

2019-12-14 23:29:33 UTC

Or overruns

2019-12-14 23:29:43 UTC

Might be interesting to have a stockpile of barrels, in case the lights go out.

2019-12-14 23:30:16 UTC

Deep Drilling and rifling is beyond my ability at the moment

2019-12-14 23:32:39 UTC

I was going to ask about how rifling would be done.

2019-12-14 23:32:57 UTC

Also, what rust inhibitor would be applied?

2019-12-14 23:33:09 UTC

Prob have to send out for that process.

2019-12-14 23:35:31 UTC

Some of the barrels for sale on GMB mention chrome lined, some don’t.

2019-12-14 23:35:52 UTC

Hmm...

2019-12-14 23:37:05 UTC

Do you know what a sine bar is?

2019-12-14 23:40:03 UTC

No clue what a sine bar is, but I will in a minute.

2019-12-14 23:41:21 UTC

I think it may be possible to build a sine bar rifling attachment for my lathe

2019-12-14 23:41:40 UTC

As opposed to a complete machine

2019-12-14 23:46:57 UTC

I skimmed through a “sine bar” video, and the guy was describing trig functions.

2019-12-14 23:47:07 UTC

Sohcahtoa

2019-12-14 23:47:24 UTC

I haven’t used that in a few decades.

2019-12-14 23:47:39 UTC

But I still remember it!

2019-12-14 23:48:46 UTC

Now I’m deciding how to apply that to barrels.

2019-12-14 23:52:16 UTC

Check this out:
(Link moved to <#649348710731350076> )

2019-12-15 00:00:39 UTC

In that video the angled green bar above the machine is the sine bar

2019-12-15 00:02:10 UTC

The long blue bar underneath it engages with the sign bar causing it to move back and forth that in turn turns the Chuck holding the cutter

2019-12-15 00:06:07 UTC

By adjusting the sine bar you can adjust the twist rate of the barrel

2019-12-15 00:12:49 UTC

That’s pretty cool.

2019-12-15 00:30:37 UTC

Holy Schnikees, @Deleted User , you cleaned the place up already. Lmao

2019-12-15 00:32:24 UTC

I’m listening to the video you posted, entitled, “WOE TO YOU TAMUDIC ZIONISTS FOR YOUR TIME IS SHORT derek broes”

2019-12-15 00:32:35 UTC

Pretty wild.

2019-12-15 00:56:43 UTC

The guy’s heart seems in the right place.
