This <#627030086964740096> channel is kinda becoming a catch-all, making it not so easy to go back and find interesting links you guys are posting.
I’m also guilty, but maybe we should post stuff in the proper channels.
Just an observation.
There are definitely some links posted that need to be watched and perhaps discussed.
Are usually used General to Post Live YouTube links
I
I started watch a video posted a few days ago, and I’m trying to hunt it down again. LOL
Use the search function it'll give you a selection of things you can search for
Like I said, I’m just making an observation and suggestion.
By the way, @Deleted User , what are you going to produce with that drilling/milling beast?
I do a lot of work on firearms, the bed on this lathe is 31 in between centers so I can turn barrels
You know, I was __*EXACTLY*__ thinking that you could do that...
👍
Barrel blanks are relatively cheap
If you haven't been there check out Green Mountain barrels
Sometimes they have clearances
Or overruns
Might be interesting to have a stockpile of barrels, in case the lights go out.
Deep Drilling and rifling is beyond my ability at the moment
Also, what rust inhibitor would be applied?
Prob have to send out for that process.
Some of the barrels for sale on GMB mention chrome lined, some don’t.
Hmm...
Do you know what a sine bar is?
No clue what a sine bar is, but I will in a minute.
I think it may be possible to build a sine bar rifling attachment for my lathe
As opposed to a complete machine
I skimmed through a “sine bar” video, and the guy was describing trig functions.
Sohcahtoa
I haven’t used that in a few decades.
But I still remember it!
Now I’m deciding how to apply that to barrels.
Check this out:
(Link moved to <#649348710731350076> )
In that video the angled green bar above the machine is the sine bar
The long blue bar underneath it engages with the sign bar causing it to move back and forth that in turn turns the Chuck holding the cutter
By adjusting the sine bar you can adjust the twist rate of the barrel
That’s pretty cool.
Holy Schnikees, @Deleted User , you cleaned the place up already. Lmao
