@Black Plague This is the heavy metal gasoline with which I'm familiar:

@Black Plague Dirty Looks was a Bay area hair metal band formed in 1984 by Danish singer/guitarist Henrik Ostergaard and American bassist Jimmy Chartley. Its Gasoline album was its first one in 10 years, released in 2007.
@saaara About the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) music I described to you in chat earlier, this is the most successful band to emerge from that period:

@saaara And this was one of its more obscure bands: https://youtu.be/VRA_sisoKDs
@saaara Another more obscure NWOBHM band, though it did get some unfavorable exposure on Beavis & Butthead: https://youtu.be/6S2e0ZdIhMI
Venom never had substantial commercial success, but this NWOBHM band did help spawn an entire subgenre of heavy metal (black metal): https://youtu.be/3qbwnDd5yOo
Though it predates the NWOBHM movement by a few years, Motorhead nevertheless was embraced by it by the early 80s.

Iron Maiden, one of the best known NWOBHM bands that, unlike Def Leppard, isn't in denial over its heavy metal origins.

Wtf this fire
Hey guys what's up? I just joined here and I love metalcore
@coletra1n Living Sacrifice is my favorite Christian metalcore band, though when it started in the late 80s it was a thrash metal band.

Is there anyone here whose favorite band at one point in time was never Linkin Park?
Who are they
@gauravtee Never got into the nu-metal that was so popular in the late 90s because I like my heavy metal with guitar solos, though I did buy the first Korn record in 1995.
Do bands like these even exist anymore?
@gauravtee Don't know, but I was just reminded of the Global Metal documentary's segment in Mumbai.

@Deadly_Ramon what do you think about Haste the Day? I really like their first two albums

@coletra1n I only have a couple of its songs, Blue 42 and Stitches, on the compilations This Is Solid State volumes 5 and 6, released in 2004 and 2007. Don't remember what they sound like so they must not have made a huge impression on me.
This is more my kind of Christian metal, from the first This Is Solid State compilation, released in 1998 (and of course from Extol's first album, Burial):
