Public colleges and other organizations that get government funding (eg Planned Parenthood) should be barred from donating to political causes too
USC and UCLA losing donors? Hello Hollywood elite...
I could see that, but at some point does Soros real donate to every college without cutting spending on something else?
There's a lot of big money donors on the left--and I really think they would throw everything at it to keep those institutions in their pockets. Not too mention the legal pilpul they would pull (as they always find something)
I guarantee most rich Alabama alumni aren't antifa sympathizers. Even just a 10-20% cut in donations from them would be worrisome for administrators
They can't afford to lose the ability to indoctrinate the next generation of people in the middle of a revolution
I think we should do it anyway, just to cause the left to waste time and resources dealing with it
The left has a lot of resources but you can only spend each dollar on one thing. They have to pick and choose their fights. Opening up more fronts and forcing them to personally subsidize universities hurts them
Do you think the donors would pull their funding? It might mean getting labeled as one of us and they'd lose social status (and not to mention their businesses and personal money)
The left is like the mob = stop paying and *you'll pay* attitude
Some may even signal by giving *more*
That was a few years ago now, though
Much different environment now--especially if it was done as a part of a movement to alter the University culture and classes
2015 and 2018 are different universes, comparatively
Anyone who acts against the left in any manner gets the "supremacist" treatment now
Post C-ville America
Proud Boys a domestic terror group, Antifa with media support immune from law enforcement
I don't know, when the news shows an email from a donor stating why they're pulling their funding, they'll get wrecked "to make an example out of them"
Or if an ultimatum is given, it'd be worse. I'm not trying to collapse any effort to defund Universities, but the left's recent grasp of social control is a monolith that ruins much of what we can do
It may have never happened precisely bc the donors know what would happen. If they do pull funding, they'll do it silently--but if it becomes a movement, all the alumni groups (an elite social group in themselves) will begin their rumor mill
I see them like I see Hollywood actors who are conservative: do the bit or don't get work and then you're done for
Celebrities get asked to do some LGBT fund raiser--and they're too afraid to say no
If we can get back online like normal people are allowed to do, we could fight the culture war, but I think we're crippled, blind, and mute without equal free speech rights and the enforcement of laws equally
(PB are a domestic t group, Antifa gets media support plus legal immunity)
That Lawn Society is the type of thing I'm talking about. How do we convince these people to give up that status and to counter signal the others in their elite group?
They would face ramifications of some sort
*Heeeyy, I recognize that campus, lol*
It's a mutually beneficial relationship
But dude, UVA? You think after the torch march they're going to side anywhere near us?
There's a nut here to crack, but finding out how is the hard part
We probably need some "Prager U" tier group to approach this
Or... Shapiro...
Use the J to J the J's
Implant this idea in the mind of some normie level Republicans
I meant the Universities
Not just that one
Getting donors to stop donating would have to come from someone who is normie enough to still have a platform and popular enough to have weight behind it
or clout
Shapiro, Prager U, Jordan Peterson... those types
Civnat normies
