oh... its a book on linux?

2019-06-24 01:57:50 UTC

:S

2019-06-24 01:58:01 UTC

comp sci major?

2019-06-24 01:58:06 UTC

I'm not against teaching myself, my issue is not knowing how to direct my studies. When I study everything referenced in the power point and I get a question on a quiz that was not in the power point, and the only guide I have to using the book effectively is "use it as a heavy browse" I tend to stress about studying.

2019-06-24 01:58:39 UTC

Can you not work closer with the teacher or find people later?

2019-06-24 01:59:03 UTC

hmmmn...

2019-06-24 01:59:10 UTC

comp science really shouldnt have quizes

2019-06-24 01:59:23 UTC

Linux:
In development for 20+ Years
Open source and changing literally every fucking minute (Not a joke, look up the linux open source blogs and websites)
One book won't even teach you a quarter of everything you need to know.
And so on.

2019-06-24 01:59:27 UTC

yeah it shouldn't

2019-06-24 01:59:30 UTC

should be projects...

set this up, in X amount of time.

2019-06-24 01:59:39 UTC

literally make you test on things so that when you have the degree

2019-06-24 01:59:43 UTC

NO projects in this class

2019-06-24 01:59:43 UTC

you get hired and basically learn from there

2019-06-24 01:59:53 UTC

Just labs, through a website...

2019-06-24 02:00:01 UTC

and quizzes, eventually coming down to a final

2019-06-24 02:00:12 UTC

all oyu need to know about linux is...

debian, centos, bsd...
and...

apt get install.

2019-06-24 02:00:14 UTC

lol

2019-06-24 02:00:29 UTC

in real life anyways

2019-06-24 02:00:36 UTC

you google the rest on the fly.

2019-06-24 02:00:39 UTC

@Xychotic Hybrid class, so I go to class once a week, otherwise it's online. Also, it's a 45 minute drive to campus.

2019-06-24 02:00:58 UTC

My biggest fear: I don't want to go into a field not being prepared.

2019-06-24 02:01:11 UTC

@Punished Korgoth just be nice to sayori and no body gets hurt

2019-06-24 02:01:24 UTC

That's really it. If I can be sure I can do well in my field then I'd be 99 percent calmer.

2019-06-24 02:01:50 UTC

well drayanor, you will be unprepared, guaranteed

2019-06-24 02:01:57 UTC

You dont think the coffee adds to your nerves

2019-06-24 02:01:58 UTC

in the real world, your boss will not know shit about technology...

2019-06-24 02:02:07 UTC

and will be like, "make it happen... in 2 hours"

2019-06-24 02:02:18 UTC

when it requires you to setup 10 servers lol

2019-06-24 02:02:53 UTC

Here's a fun one

2019-06-24 02:03:02 UTC

*try to remember linux commands on the spot*

2019-06-24 02:03:08 UTC

Have fun...

2019-06-24 02:03:26 UTC

tellin ya, apt-get install, all you need to know lol

2019-06-24 02:03:58 UTC

or you just copy and paste from a search

2019-06-24 02:04:38 UTC

terminal commands aren't all that hard. Of course trying to remember them when you don't use them every day is a different thing.

2019-06-24 02:04:51 UTC

sent ya pics drayanor.

2019-06-24 02:04:57 UTC

but you rarely have to use them so it should be no surprise that you don't recall

2019-06-24 02:05:10 UTC

boss was like, "i want a cloud"
you have 1 month to build it and are only allowed spending 2 hours a day on it
