comp sci major?

I'm not against teaching myself, my issue is not knowing how to direct my studies. When I study everything referenced in the power point and I get a question on a quiz that was not in the power point, and the only guide I have to using the book effectively is "use it as a heavy browse" I tend to stress about studying.

Can you not work closer with the teacher or find people later?

In development for 20+ Years
Open source and changing literally every fucking minute (Not a joke, look up the linux open source blogs and websites)
One book won't even teach you a quarter of everything you need to know.
And so on.

NO projects in this class

you get hired and basically learn from there

and quizzes, eventually coming down to a final

@Xychotic Hybrid class, so I go to class once a week, otherwise it's online. Also, it's a 45 minute drive to campus.

My biggest fear: I don't want to go into a field not being prepared.

terminal commands aren't all that hard. Of course trying to remember them when you don't use them every day is a different thing.
