we were allied with russia prior to the rise of the soviet union ....usa refused to accept the existence of the soviet union for several presidencies since it got formed..it was fdr that accepted the soviet union as gov over russia and various other eastern europian states

after that acceptance, we were eventually thrust into ww2 to fight soviet unions enemies, after fdr seized all japan's assets in usa which they were using to buy our oil and other products so they can help hitler and other nations crush the communists(the general public was lied to about this) prior to japan launching an attack on pearl harbor after repeated pleas with the us gov(fdr) to release assets and resume trade deals
