To be perfectly one hundred percent clear, I have no issues with anyone else's preference/identity, so long as they respect that no means no, and keep their hands to themselves if told "not interested." You know common decency.
The problem with arguing with SJWs is that they are utterly insane. They move the goalposts, activate doublethink, disregard what you are saying and resort to "hah! you're white, checkmate!" or just REEEEEEE and get violent.
Yeah, I think sometimes it can work on those who are more tepidly in because they are well intentioned but just not fully informed. There are some really demoralized folk though (Bezmenov callback!). Yet I feel weirdly optimistic that there's some "golden snitch" out there.
