My dad’s trying to dissuade me from joining the Air Force

1. He overly congratulated me after putting some liquid into his steering wheel thing. Even said i could be an automotive mechanic (I just put some stuff into a car, and you had to tell me when it was good. Such talent.)

2. He told me that active service sucks (I figured, since everything sucks. Even your job, dad), and that I have options.

Just want your opinions on the whole deal. Should I decide to not go Air Force? I’m going there in the first place so that I can finally leave home. I figured the world’s gonna kick my ass one day, I might as well be prepared for it (and choose how it kicks my ass). Also, I’m in my 20s, they’re in their 50s, I feel time running low, and I hate the feeling of dread I get, knowing that I’m not prepared for when the world comes to say hi

Well I can't say much for the Air Force because I was never in but I did 4 years in the Marine Corps, I'm just going to tell you, it's not as difficult as people make it out to be. In the Marines you get fucked with constantly and have no freedom but apart from that it's not particularly difficult. The other branches are similar but to a lesser extent. The Air Force isn't a bad choice when it comes to learning a trade so make sure you pick an MOS in something aplicable in the civilian world.
