Oh, dang! The suggestion worked!
It did, now dont abuse
@dastenhero lmao I know it's kinda nice that this server listens to its members, I suggested something and it was implemented and I was all😮
Same here! Wasn't sure if it was going to work!
So, what has everyone been writing?
I've written around a 150 page novel. I wrote it from when I was in like 4th grade to 7th grade. Looking back on it now, its interesting to see how my vocabulary and grammar expanded from the beginning of the book to the end
Only reason this one took longer to implement is because we had a similar channel awhile back, and we were wary on bringing it back, but we are always open for suggestions
Guys I've been concerned about my career as a writer. That basically I have this one story off of my head that a lot of the characters are gay but I do not want to push a political agenda. The only thing that I just want to basically say is that "so what if they're gay? who cares." And I am afraid that with me just having gay characters in there alone somehow looks like I am trying to push a political agenda. So can somebody help me of the fact I have really bad loathing self-doubt right now!
If the entire story revolves around people being gay, then it will look political
If you include gay people, but actually have a compelling plot and a good story, then at most people will see your book as woke
Depends on how you write it
I have some experience with helping others write characters and expand on their plots
Bruh. Really!?
If you want them to be Gay, just try not to make it be their defining character trait
There's only like four or five main gay characters I could think of in my story.
They can be gay, or whatever you make them, as long as their character isn't "Im gay so respect" youd have a shot
Make sure you dont have to many main characters
Indeed.
Depending on the story, 3 main protags and 1 main antag is usually a good formula
Indeed. And it always depends on what form of fiction are you writing on. This form of fiction that I'm writing on is high fantasy. Basically meaning that it's fantasy that takes place in a different plane of existence.
That sounds interesting
I'm glad that sounds interesting!
See the high fantasy part the setting part is what makes it interesting not the part of some silly trait that the characters have!
Yeah, just dont throw in Gay people to be woke, make them have a purpose lol
For a good look at how gay people can work, look at Nick from the Rick Riordan Percy Jackson series, hes a gay character, but it really doesnt affect the story, of course Rick, later has a Bi character in a later series, but it goes along with the story and works with it
True! Well I guess you could say my main core reason why I made the characters gay is that because I kind of want it to be about like a metaphor of being different on different levels. And also I did give a few negative traits to my gay characters for the fact that they are gay. For an example to two gay male characters in my story don't understand women so they kind of appear very sexist to women.
I am glad about that! Like I said I'm just having a moment of self-doubt.
Yeah, I feel like writing them naturally and just like everyone else is the way to go
A huge misconception out there is that all gay guys act the same. In reality, it depends on the subculture they buy into
That's actually really awesome! I'd love to have actually finished something; I lose interest quickly only to rediscover them later
Self doubt always gets in the way of what I write. Some good advice I heard though was that if you like it, someone else will too
The subculture that the two gay men of My Story fall into is basically being the super buff manly men. Like that of Arnold Schwarzenegger and all that.
That will definitely set it apart in a good way
Indeed. my fear is that people will think that I'm stupid.
I rarely see that dynamic outside of LGBTQ fanfics written by members of the LGBTQ
