Tbh it feels like someone just went wild on imagination and went "screw real life rules" and it works
It also establishes that the world is different from ours in the very beginning
It's sort of like how Big Hero 6 just feels normal because you accept the concept from the start. Not quite that drastic but
Which in a fantastical world like that, it has to feel realistic, but let you know that its just a little different, it helps with worldbuilding and letting the reader, or watcher follow along

Horrible example, but even movies like Cats did this well to a certain extent. It just grabs you, creeps you out from the get-go, and basically says "get over it, this is how we roll." Never really ends up making sense but ironically, the designs are the least of the movie's worries past the first ten minutes because everyone brave enough to still be there has accepted the reality
Its a good example,of worldbuilding, even if the world kinda sucks

It *does* make the mistake of introducing new elements later though
It bring the viewer in quickly, if they are on board, then they'll love it, you cant try to please everyone
Well, it is a hollywood flick in the end
That's one thing that bugged me about the new Wonder Woman; they bring up important plot points 4/7 into the movie
(to be honest I couldn't keep track of the acts so I'm estimating how far at this point)
Ive heard mixed things, potholes are the worst and this seems full of them
It is full of them
But it also doesn't explain or even introduce important concepts within the first half hour
Like suddenly a weapon will do a new thing and it was never even hinted at
(I won't spoil)
When writing, do your best to limit plotholes, or intentionally leave them so,you could maybe write about it later, fill it in, but have a plan for them

Exposition is boring however, you want to keep it interesting
It was really kind of sad seeing such an expensive movie pull stuff out of a hat
Oh, definitely
But at least hint at certain things
Once again Rick Riordan was really good at introducing everyone to his world of the gods, without it just being boring Exposition

Humor tends to help if you cant actually find ways to make it work
I don't remember much of Percy Jackson but I never went "what the heck" to my knowledge
Its a copout but it can work if done right
True
I was big into Greek Mythos at the time so it was really interesting to me as a kid, so i read it multiple times, still do sometimes
I need to reread it
Its aged a bit I think, but it still hits in all the right places with good worldbuilding, setting up long term character growth, plot holes to fill, and some pretty clever humor
That's good!
seems like you guys had quite the conversation while I was gone 😄
Yeah
I accidentaly Muted this channel, how do I unmute it?
nevermind
Another story idea I had was about a group of American Paladins.
They are an order of Holy knights who first came to be before the Revolution.
