Excuse the dirty looking floor I have a bunny right next to my setup it’s just kicked up bedding
Sorta set up but I’m stupid and need an HDMI splitter to connect the second one 😂
So only one functions for now
You don't have two HDMI ports on your video card?
Apparently not
I thought I did
Until I tried hooking them up
Than I found out I didn’t
There are DisplayPort to HDMI cables...
That’s true
You don't want an HDMI splitter, all that would do is make both monitors display exactly the same thing.
Yeah I realized how dumb that was after I said it
If you have a display port connection in your GPU, that single port can actually drive four monitors if you have a splitter.
Display port is different then HDMI, display port actually embeds multiple video streams in a single connection to allow higher resolution, higher refresh rate, and other features.
Would having one plugged into the GPU HDMI and one plugged into the display port with a display port to hdmi cable do the same as doing a display port splitter
Yes and cheaper, display port splitters are expensive while a display port to HDMI cord is fairly cheap as long as you only need a short cable.
Yeah I need no more than 3-4 feet
Appreciate the help. Thank you very much. Complete monitor noob if you couldn’t tell lol
I have 15 ft display port to HDMI cable because of my unique setup and that thing was not cheap.
15ft? No kidding it wasn’t cheap
Well the fact I got the desk I was mounting all this on for $20, it stillworked out cheaper then getting a new desk that would not have required such long cables.
DP is the best xD
Setup now
nice
Nice background too, I like the clean setup!
Are desktop computers better quality than laptops?
Yes usually
You can get a lot better parts in a comparably priced desktop than you can a laptop usually. A lot of that just comes down to the extra space you have in a desktop case versus the hyper-constrained space requirements of a thin laptop.
Ok👍
Thank you two
What should my price range be for a good desktop computer
What do you want to do with it?
No matter what you want to do with it though, pay for an SSD over a hard drive.
If you was near me I could give you a decent one. It has a 3ed gen i5 which I know is kind of dated but still 4 cores. It also supports up to 32gb of ddr3 ram
Gaming I reckon
You will probably want a computer with at least 8 gb of RAM, less then that is constrained with modern Windows and will make things snappier because more can be cashed in RAM.
Gaming you may want to go up to 16 GB depending on what game you are playing.
Ok
Do you have some examples of what kind of games you play? Also, what resolution monitor do you have or plan to have? That will help you from over paying on GPU.
Yeah how much would you want for it though
