I wouldn’t put a non-power 5 team in the playoff, generally speaking. Yeah Cincinnati has a great team but they had a sort of easy schedule against conference opponents. They never played a power-5 school. And Coastal Carolina did have two big, meaningful wins against BYU and LA-Lafayette. But it isn’t enough to put them in the same category as elite talent teams like Alabama.

Coastal Carolina has the same amount of ranked wins as Ohio State and played twice as many games

Fair point, and the buckeyes defense does allow some rather large number of points to teams like Rutgers

Generally I agree that their schedule is easier but heres the problem

Louisiana Lafayette beat Iowa State by 17 points in Week 1

They lost 1 game to an unbeaten team all season

Iowa State was ranked ahead of them basically the whole year

Even if they were to go undefeated and play good teams in non conference, it doesn't matter because the committee just doesn't care, they just go by what they think are the "bEsT tEAMz"

Well no I can’t say that really, the Pac 12 isnt terrible they just were restrictive bc of covid, so limited schedule etc

Or maybe even expand the playoffs. Four teams is really narrow. Ranks 5-10 is where things get heated and they should be included too to spice things up, have more variety, stuff like that. With, say, a 12 team format like the NFL adopted this season then top two teams get a bye week then 10 other teams battle it out, maybe 3 seed plays 12 seed so on and so forth. That way there would be more action from other conferences and more variety year by year
