It's just a Walmart knock off of the Army shovel. I REALLY want this one...
Cant ever go wrong with a standard issue etool. Every military surplus store has them
Indeed, got one that I think might be old German, it's still got the wood handle and the like, but it feels like it could probably stop some pistol calibers.
You guys have any tips for a young, greenhorn prepper currently living with their folks (as much as I hate to admit it) in a suburban area?
Skills to learn and practice, food and water storage/ procurement, maybe communications?
It kind of depends on region, but I suppose let's start with what do you already know?
I know some basics, like how to start a fire. I have some idea as to what kind of food I should buy, I know a little bit about water purification and filtration but not much
I know the layout of the area that I'm in very well
Like ham radios, gas masks, filters, and nbc gear
?
I'm not at that point yet. I guess I'm trying to figure out how to solidify my foundation
The situations I envision potentially having to contend with are civil war and economic collapse
Ammo, guns, MREs, water purifiers, and bam
Everything basic 😅
I need to save up to buy some survival stuff
I need a tarp because it doubles as a cover and water collecter
Shit, tarps are a good idea
Make rainwater catchment with that
Yeah even a small one is good really. Make a lean-to and place a tarp on with some rocks on top for shelter
For water catching digging a hole and placing it in is the most basic as long as it's in an open area
I got enough yard back here to put up several tarps
Nice! As long as it rains 🤣
We get some rain, but only in winter and spring
Ah
I've also seen people use tarps to distill water
So I would need to engineer a way to store it
Fortunately I have a hot tub
Nice
That's about 300 gallons
Nice!
I bought a countertop water filter with a ceramic and carbon element in it, so it should take the chemicals out of the hot tub water if I need to drink out of that
Yeah that's cool
Oh I would also recommend a bowie knife lol. I've gotten a pretty nice Elk Ridge one from Big 5 for 10 dollars when it was on sale
Normally $30 ?
So that was a steal
I got blades, guns and ammo covered
Oh cool cool
I have a sog tech bowie as a primary knife
I have blades covered but not ammo or guns lol
Oh nice
