up close knives can be deadlier than guns luke
What TrapaholicJones says is true, but:
Knife fighting is not a joke, and I do not recommend it to anyone who doesn't have the training required to do it safely.
Firearms are simple point and click adventures. Knives are high-speed chess, with less forgiving results.
Any tips on that and my current dilemma?
@SPRTNWRRYR1974 5 years plus of actuall hand to hand combat training for knive use in self-defense + knowledge of applicable laws.
Food stuffs, buy you a dehydrator and canner on amazon or elsewhere online.
Websearch on how to do it, and start preserving.
Where can I get said training?
will drop some links for food stuffs in a moment
You think I can pull it all before Tuesday? Also, if you suggest weapons, I am in a college dorm, so those are somewhat hard to access and conceal.
I don't know where you might find some, mine is from military personel (I was not a service member but I did recieve training), and personal contacts etc. It's know you know locally for that. Look up veteran owned gyms and studios and ask around there.
Food prep takes time, about a week. You may be SOL for that being ready by Tuesday, but the knowledge and equipment could be invaluable.
I have food in one dresser drawer and some in a mini-fridge.
What is SOL?
Sh*t Out of Luck
Ok
The stuff in the fridge is what you want to preserve
You might be able to do the mini-fridge and have things saved if power goes out for an extended period.
buddy if ur plan is to prep for tuesday youre way behind
Agreed.
That's just some oranges, bread treats, and some cheese sticks. I have access to food from dining courts, and I have a case of water and several energy drinks.
Alrighty then Spooky
i feel like i need more preps and i been prepping for 10 years
I'm screwed, aren't I?
Go by dry food goods... Instant Noodles
etc
I am close to home, so I can go there if needed.
Good plan, but you may not be able to walk there safely
It's about 70 miles away.
Over the plains of Central Indiana.
How fit are you?
How many miles a day could you walk with 40lbs on your back?
I run Spartan Races, but I've been recovering from a slight knee injury. I can run 30 miles with minimal clothing and some water, and I do have a bike (a crappy one at that).
Also, do you have wet and cold weather gear?
It's been a year since I pulled that stunt though. I do have gear for cold weather.
Not for wet, but I've got a pretty solid Schmindt jacket that does a good job.
Ok so with a bike and an injury, say 10-15 miles a day on roads, since you're in the plains.
It's a very mild injury. I feel comfortable running 3 miles with no weight.
Food and gear is the thing though
so, you're looking at a realistic 4-8 day journey.
I'm just trying to prepare for something. Lafayette is a pretty quiet town, but I don't want to take chances.
