get a filter or some survival straws from an outdoor store
OH! Really? I thought it was 70 miles away!
It is.
It's almost straight east of Lafayette.
Maybe if you walk without stopping
Yeah, that's it.
military forced marches are around 20 miles a day
I am an Eagle Scout, so I can always find a spot to hide/camp.
25 if they push things a bit
I'm guessing 10-15 miles a day due to having to hide, move over rough ground (through trees, etc).
I've got the bike though.
Yes, but plan for delays
It's got some rusty bolts and spots, so it could break under the stress.
2-3 days bikning easy
4 if you have to go slower
Eagle scout gang
Once I leave the Lafayette area, the ground gets a lot flatter.
8 if weather slows you, bike breaks, have to hide from mobs.
Highway 26 runs east out of town and it'll take me to a point almost directly north of my house.
carry food for 4-6 days, ration it and it'll last you til you get home.
I don't think Indiana's going to see mob-level violence, but I will be ready. Maybe if my parent's say I can't come home I'll snag a dagger or machete and hide it until I get in my room.
Remember the motto "Be Prepared"
That's what this is about.
I'm an Eagle Scout. Of course.
Same here. Eagle Scout gang!
I'm confident I have what I need (at least to start out). It's just a matter of organizing.
Well, I've got some homework to wrap up and I need to call my mom about staying home.
I live outside a major city, I work inside the city. I carry 30lbs of "get home" gear every day these days.
I live an hour from Indy.
I don't want to use any of it, but I want to get home if SHTF
We can make it. Most of my dad's family lives spread out over my county and the one east of it.
We can pull diesel from the farm equipment and get stuff put together.
Sounds like a good plan.
It also sounds like you've got a good idea of how to be ready. I think you'll be fine.
Thanks. If you think of more tips, DM me. I found some manuals online about survival and some other stuff.
Have a good one.
You too!
Peace!
I think I changed my mind. I'm not going to stay home, but I'll make sure I'm prepared to leave at a moment's notice.
I'm not in a major city, but I'm still staying out of town for awhile after the election. One of the few nice parts of having been sent to work from home because of Covid, means I could head for the lakes for a bit.
@Equalibrium basically anything is legal if you deem it legal to use (thats what the crimes act says for self defense) basically we have similar self defense and gun laws to California.
