Ah. Thanks!

2020-11-20 06:13:23 UTC

I have 2 zippos, and while i dont use them, they do light nearly every time

2020-11-20 15:36:31 UTC

Maybe I'll try them

2020-11-20 17:07:22 UTC

They do put off an odor, after all it isn't as clean burning as a butane lighter. However its probably two times better than a little BIC lighter.

2020-11-20 17:55:05 UTC

Plus you if you dont have fluid you can use gasoline or other similar fuels

2020-11-20 17:55:38 UTC

The flints are also replaceable so grab one of the holders for extras

2020-11-20 18:07:15 UTC

gasoline? would diesel not be safer?

2020-11-20 18:14:32 UTC

Desil isnt flamable

2020-11-20 18:15:19 UTC

Desil is combustable and a zippo doesnt combust/compress the fuel it just lights evaporating gasses

2020-11-20 18:48:05 UTC

ahh gotcha.

2020-11-20 18:48:24 UTC

so how does a zippo keep the gas from all going at once?

2020-11-20 18:50:45 UTC

It burns on a wick like a lanturn

2020-11-20 18:51:41 UTC

The wick draws up the gas from the sponge its stored in, and then it evaporates off the wick and hit with a spark burns

2020-11-20 19:02:18 UTC

oh okay. so I assume you can use kerosene too then?

2020-11-20 20:50:59 UTC

https://www.bladehq.com/item--Ontario-RAT-Model-2-Knife-Folder--16435 I am thinking about getting a rat. what do ya'll think?

2020-11-20 20:51:46 UTC

I will mainly use it for gen-purpose edc and occasionally carboard, although I try to use my boxcutter for that since we go through hundreds of boxes a day at CFA.

2020-11-20 21:05:23 UTC

I would also love to get a rat 2

2020-11-20 21:05:31 UTC

if you get it tell me what you think

2020-11-20 21:06:30 UTC

will do.

2020-11-20 21:07:16 UTC

I have an Ontario sp2 (fixed blade) that has worked well for years now, so I think the rat would be a safe buy.

2020-11-21 07:47:35 UTC

Personally I carry a leatherman wave+ every day I can't tell you how many times I've used every tool in it.

2020-11-21 10:14:22 UTC

Leathermans are a wonderful tool, Swiss Army knife+ essentially

2020-11-21 10:14:32 UTC

yeah

2020-11-21 10:14:42 UTC

i got a little hammer multi tool

2020-11-22 04:37:14 UTC

cheapest meal prep kit that

2020-11-22 04:37:38 UTC

will last 30+ years is just 40lbs of rice in a food grade 5 gallon bucket

2020-11-22 04:38:54 UTC

whatever you do, don't cook food in the can it came in. they got a plastic lining that'll have you shitting through a screen door twice as bad as canned food already will

2020-11-22 18:21:57 UTC

lol, that reminds me. my papa taught me a trick to cook canned food with a 12v cig-lighter if shtf. He says it obviously is not healthy and it puts a strain on your car battery if the vehicle isnt running, but he tried it with no problems.

2020-11-22 18:23:03 UTC

he even said if you don't have a can opener, you can take a knife or a screw driver and punch a hole in the lid to A), keep it from blowing up, and B) at least drink the juice inside. xD

2020-11-25 21:50:56 UTC

Heads up on ReadyWise, slow shipping and potentially poorly quality food.

2020-11-25 22:09:54 UTC

Slow shipping?

2020-11-25 22:10:08 UTC

I haven't tried the food but my family got ours in a week or so

2020-11-25 23:01:48 UTC

I forget where we got ours, but it took like 4 months to get half of the shipment just due to covid.

2020-11-25 23:01:55 UTC
