Save ammo

2021-01-03 02:14:33 UTC

Those rounds ain’t cheap

2021-01-03 02:16:31 UTC

And a laser has in theory unlimited ammunition and range.

2021-01-03 02:16:43 UTC

I'm sure they're developing them to also fry electronics.

2021-01-03 02:58:02 UTC

so long as you are generating power, the laser has infinite ammo

2021-01-03 02:58:19 UTC

tho still current issue with them is fairly limited range, due to how light works

2021-01-03 02:59:08 UTC

currently a few F-35's have been fitted with anti-missile lasers, with pretty good sucess

2021-01-03 03:00:27 UTC

its honestly stuff like Lasers that make me think that ol traditional dogfighting will make a return, as missiles are more expensive than the load of cannon ammo + in a fight your most likely gonna lose your missile load tryna kill the target but the missile keeps gettin shot down

2021-01-03 03:20:03 UTC

I think ramjet powered aams and laser weaponry could very well be the future of a2a combat

2021-01-03 03:21:11 UTC

Though if we're going to go to the topic of scramjets they'll need weapons that are either experimental or flat out don't even exist yet.

What would happen if china and AMERICA go to war?

Who would win

My bet is the USA

2021-01-03 15:11:58 UTC

Depends who strikes first I guess 🥸

Still

2021-01-03 15:36:57 UTC

Id say the US. As if it turns into a war of attrition, China will essentisly starve due to having a extremely large population as well as being a massive resource consumer

And they just stupid <:troll_face:726878856585281557>

Doesn’t the usa have more allies and nukes 🙂

2021-01-03 16:39:01 UTC

Right, but to say the US would ever use nukes first is plain stupid. MAD effectively neutralizes that threat.

2021-01-03 17:01:24 UTC

China has nukes too

2021-01-03 17:01:53 UTC

@Ranger_720 also the US is the only country with nukes that has a first strike policy

2021-01-03 17:03:50 UTC

Allies means nothing when said allies would gain nothing from fighting China. Most country would be fixing to lose more than they'd gain

2021-01-03 17:06:41 UTC

in a one on one, the US would definitely win because China's navy is basically non-existent outside the South China Sea and they are about 30 years behind the US technologically. Missiles only somewhat tip the scale because most of them are useless unless they have live coordinates for a US carrier. And the US is really the only country capable of that on a massive scale.

2021-01-03 17:17:38 UTC

The navy would have a pretty hard fight against the Chinese ships

2021-01-03 17:17:48 UTC

They have a lot of ships

2021-01-03 17:18:53 UTC

Fair point but at also depends on how well the crew is trained

2021-01-03 17:19:34 UTC

I mean no one has ever done naval combat in the 21st century

2021-01-03 17:19:50 UTC

Well true

2021-01-03 17:32:41 UTC

they have ships with 70s tech

2021-01-03 17:32:53 UTC

# of ships /= hard fight

2021-01-03 17:33:37 UTC

21st century is all over the horizon

2021-01-03 17:33:38 UTC

Look China is stupid enough to end the whole world with nukes if they start to lose

2021-01-03 17:33:54 UTC

I'm not even gonna argue that because it's ridiculous

2021-01-03 17:34:19 UTC

so unbelievably outlandish

2021-01-03 17:34:23 UTC

Well nobody believes China's NFU because they continue to expand their stockpile 🤷‍♂️

2021-01-03 17:35:00 UTC

soviets had a massive stockpile too and they were not first strike

2021-01-03 17:35:41 UTC

Because they were smart enough to not end the world

2021-01-03 17:35:52 UTC

I'm not saying they will use them, or that they need to (because that's false), but it doesn't help tensions

2021-01-03 17:35:57 UTC

soviets were hardly smart

2021-01-03 17:36:18 UTC

the amount of times they were going to attack the US for training exercises should show that

2021-01-03 17:36:35 UTC

US military is outdated whereas China and Russia are advancing at scary rates. Either country would give the US a serious run for their money in a few years
