@Captain Riker "DEATH IN THE SHAPE OF A PANZER BATTALION!!!"

2020-10-25 15:29:13 UTC

Oh wow didnt expect to see sabaton here

2020-10-25 15:36:11 UTC

if its a history chat it is an unwritten rule of law that Sabaton be mentioned at bare minimum once

2020-10-25 15:49:35 UTC

I mean we had a full on discussion about that song a day or two ago

2020-10-25 15:52:22 UTC

i know

2020-10-25 15:53:46 UTC

does anyone know the concept behind this song?

2020-10-25 15:54:11 UTC

i assume its the war between poland and russia after ww1

2020-10-25 16:59:20 UTC
2020-10-25 23:26:27 UTC

Anybody got a good video about Vietnam?

2020-10-26 00:34:49 UTC

Not that I know of

2020-10-26 00:36:02 UTC

Turns out though that the Union people weren't always the nicest people like we act like they were. At the beginning of the Civil War in Philadelphia, people who didn't have American flags in front of their homes were chased through the streets and threatened as people labeled them as "southeen sympathizers."

2020-10-26 00:44:37 UTC

Who knew war can bring out evil of humanity huh

2020-10-26 00:51:07 UTC

True, lol. Still, we're always told that Union good, Confederate bad and turns out the Union peeps weren't exactly the angels we pretend they were

2020-10-26 00:53:47 UTC

They also flip flopped right when the war started, so basically the moment the war began they went from "Aww poor south" to "Did I hear you speak nice about someone living down in that pathetic hellhole of an area?"

2020-10-26 00:54:25 UTC

Yeah I understand both union and southern armies had bad people in them

2020-10-26 00:54:41 UTC

Which is why we should punish those who commit war crimes

2020-10-26 00:54:48 UTC

^

2020-10-26 00:55:41 UTC

I can't remember what side did this war crime but one of the sides came into a house and raped a women.

2020-10-26 00:55:50 UTC

War is truly fucked

2020-10-26 00:56:52 UTC

That's not just war, sadly. That's anytime one side has the opportunity to brutalize the other. That act is a horribly common theme throughout history.

2020-10-26 00:57:00 UTC

Yeah I know

2020-10-26 00:57:22 UTC

Id say it was the North, as Sherman's march to the sea was ripe with raping a pillaging

2020-10-26 00:57:36 UTC

But isn't it funny how as humans we tend to gravitate towards negativity

2020-10-26 00:57:47 UTC

I mean it ain't funny but yeah

2020-10-26 00:58:20 UTC

Which is why being religious more so Christian is really good

2020-10-26 00:58:57 UTC

I ain't religious that much but I tend to think Christianity is good

2020-10-26 00:59:46 UTC

A good general is one that tries to mitigate damage to civilians as well as his own men and to the enemies while still winning the battle
A poor cowardly general cares not for the men under his command and will attack the defenseless and proclaim victory when a thousand of his own lay in their own blood

2020-10-26 01:00:40 UTC

Yep i agree but some wars wouldn't have ended without blood shed of the innocent

2020-10-26 01:00:44 UTC

Like ww2

2020-10-26 01:01:02 UTC

It's a bad thing but sometimes I think it needs to happen
