@Captain Riker "DEATH IN THE SHAPE OF A PANZER BATTALION!!!"
Oh wow didnt expect to see sabaton here
if its a history chat it is an unwritten rule of law that Sabaton be mentioned at bare minimum once
I mean we had a full on discussion about that song a day or two ago
i know
does anyone know the concept behind this song?
i assume its the war between poland and russia after ww1
Based on the Soviet invasion of Poland in 1919-1920

Anybody got a good video about Vietnam?
Turns out though that the Union people weren't always the nicest people like we act like they were. At the beginning of the Civil War in Philadelphia, people who didn't have American flags in front of their homes were chased through the streets and threatened as people labeled them as "southeen sympathizers."
Who knew war can bring out evil of humanity huh
True, lol. Still, we're always told that Union good, Confederate bad and turns out the Union peeps weren't exactly the angels we pretend they were
They also flip flopped right when the war started, so basically the moment the war began they went from "Aww poor south" to "Did I hear you speak nice about someone living down in that pathetic hellhole of an area?"
Yeah I understand both union and southern armies had bad people in them
Which is why we should punish those who commit war crimes
^
I can't remember what side did this war crime but one of the sides came into a house and raped a women.
War is truly fucked
That's not just war, sadly. That's anytime one side has the opportunity to brutalize the other. That act is a horribly common theme throughout history.
Yeah I know
Id say it was the North, as Sherman's march to the sea was ripe with raping a pillaging
But isn't it funny how as humans we tend to gravitate towards negativity
I mean it ain't funny but yeah
Which is why being religious more so Christian is really good
I ain't religious that much but I tend to think Christianity is good
A good general is one that tries to mitigate damage to civilians as well as his own men and to the enemies while still winning the battle
A poor cowardly general cares not for the men under his command and will attack the defenseless and proclaim victory when a thousand of his own lay in their own blood
Yep i agree but some wars wouldn't have ended without blood shed of the innocent
Like ww2
It's a bad thing but sometimes I think it needs to happen
