> Can you guess why I prefer FMJ to hollow points?
@Ironman I don't have to guess. You already told us your 1911 won't reliably feed HP.

If you honestly think they're better as defensive ammo... wow.

Bro, I've had my Sig down significantly further than just field strip (which is 5 parts, BTW). I've done work in 1911s. I'm more than familiar with both platforms. The Sig does have fewer moving parts. Like I said before, this comes from people putting polish to the ideas Browning had a hundred years ago plus the huge improvements we've had in manufacturing in that same time.

And I'm not sure why you're listing operations right after talking about parts...?

I'm going to make a couple of guesses here. 1 is that you're younger than me. Second is that you were a Marine. Tell me, did you beat the odds and manage to stick it out past your first enlistment, or did you go out as a Lance like everybody else? (I always find that funny - rage quit because you hate USMC, but wear the shirts and put a sticker on your truck.) I've also got the feeling you were in a non-infantry job, since you seem, well, really insecure about certain things.

@Deleted User Bullet profile (flat nose, round nose, WC, etc.), angle of entry, point of entry, etc. is going to make more of a difference to how an entry looks than 9, .40 or .45.

2020-07-11 21:40:53 UTC

And the damage any of those three do to a body is indistinguishable from the others.

2020-07-11 21:42:48 UTC

On a nicer note. Old and new. Remington Model 11 from 1919 or so and a Remington Versa Max.

@Sage your probably younger than me, still live with your parents, and believing that arguing with a moderator is a smart idea.

@Diabeł Boruta I definitely don't live with my parents and will bet you $100 payable over PayPal that I'm older than you.

2020-07-11 21:45:32 UTC

I'm 52 turning 53 soon

2020-07-11 21:45:50 UTC

Well, you should have taken me up. Ain't got too much on me, though.

2020-07-11 21:45:59 UTC

and I don't use usd

2020-07-11 21:47:15 UTC

Right, or a round nose yawing, or... I think we can leave it at "shootings are very complicated" and "caliber makes less difference than people think." Fair?

2020-07-11 21:50:17 UTC

I dunno... I think this recoil spring was wore out.

@Diabeł Boruta I wont ban him over arguing with me over guns. I can handle autism of this magnitude.

2020-07-11 21:59:06 UTC

Yeah I have a short fuse

2020-07-11 22:03:53 UTC

@Sage of course it wont reliable feed HP. Do you know why?

Pull the extractor off your sig, count the parts. Pull the firing pin, count the parts. Pull the spring, count the parts. Just because you have less parts of a field strip does not mean you have fewer parts overall. Your trigger group has plenty of moving parts.

Operations are accomplished with specific parts. All have to move.

1: Im probably older than you, but age doesnt matter, experience does.
2: Army Medic, EMT before and after enlistment. Quit after a really bad scene and got sick of feeling hearts stop on me.
3: Yes. You should enlist. Would help you greatly.

2020-07-11 22:08:09 UTC

Heres a question to the tangent that became a topic. If I get shot by a 22lr and again by a .40, which will have a bigger hole?

2020-07-11 22:14:08 UTC

Hollow on both for shits n giggles... with no intermediate between victim and muzzle.

2020-07-11 22:17:27 UTC

Huh, I'm actually surprised. Ex-Army are usually more open-minded to learning new stuff about guns than the cultists. Ah, well.

That's the thing, man. Newer pistols generally achieve the same operations as the 1911 did with fewer parts needed.

And I was speaking SPECIFICALLY to the main defensive calibers, not .22.

2020-07-11 22:17:39 UTC

Oh, and your 1911 can't feed HP because it's cheap. :p

2020-07-11 23:02:08 UTC

The original colt 1911 also had issues chambering hollow points. It was designed for the 230 grain FMJ. Its a steep feed ramp. Mine is an exact replica. The closest replica on the market. Cheap does not mean bad. I have access to firearms you only wish you could shoot. Yet I chose the SDS 1911A1 as my EDC. I wonder what made me take such a stance? Experience my dear boy.

Newer pistols achieve the same thing with the same amount of parts. Some are integrated, some not. Lets start with the barrel bushing. That is integrated on most newer pistols. This is the reason why my sd40 is so inaccurate. I need a whole new slide to fix it rather than a 10 dollar part. The bushing doesnt move during operation, mind you. The barrel does. As it does with almost all mag fed pistols. Hammerless does not mean fewer parts either. Those parts are just different.

Open mind... You mean like running a HAAS on the weekends to crank out lowers because of a huge demand? Doing that now. You mean like reading about the newest available firearms so I can keep a good inventory and know exactly what I am selling and its capabilities? Doing that now also.

And as far as calibers go, the .22 has taken more game and is used most often in self defense situations than any other caliber (12 gauge excluded).

And here I am just admire it the lovely pics of guns

Sexy

2020-07-12 00:18:18 UTC

I find it funny how we have people ranging from 15 to 53 or older who are all connected through their love of guns lol

2020-07-12 00:53:58 UTC

@HUNTER4639 And we are very passionate about them. So much so we argue over caliber and makes more so than anything else.

2020-07-12 01:19:35 UTC

Which would everyone prefer a ar15 or an ak47

2020-07-12 01:29:33 UTC

> Which would everyone prefer a ar15 or an ak47
@Lucario some people have their taste and both are very different

2020-07-12 01:29:59 UTC

The AR15 has a small recoil and easier to shoot while the AK47 has a high recoil and is very powerful

2020-07-12 01:30:17 UTC

I shot both and the AK47 hurts me more than the AR15 with the recoil lol

2020-07-12 01:31:18 UTC

I have a sks I don't think the recoil is bad I can shoot soda cans at 200 yards

2020-07-12 01:31:46 UTC

I prefer the ak47

2020-07-12 01:31:54 UTC

^ me too

2020-07-12 01:32:04 UTC

M4A1 is sexy doe

2020-07-12 01:32:20 UTC

Because I worked with the ak47

2020-07-12 01:33:10 UTC

Everyone I see at the range always seems to have their arm's jam or mess up my ak and sks don't do that

2020-07-12 01:34:13 UTC

Because aks and sks are built to take alot of abuse

2020-07-12 01:35:06 UTC

While the ar15 is not

2020-07-12 01:38:27 UTC

If you ever get in a gun fight the last thing you want is a jammed gun

2020-07-12 01:41:12 UTC

And don't buy firearms and ammunition from China

2020-07-12 01:42:27 UTC

Because they will jamm and not work like no tomorrow
