Still loud?

2020-07-15 17:58:00 UTC

Oh yeah, as loud as any other. But, if using a supressor, you don't have the extra sonic boom.

2020-07-15 17:58:24 UTC

True but then you need a tax stamp

2020-07-15 17:58:38 UTC

Also, sub-sonic doesn't pass through as easily

2020-07-15 17:58:59 UTC

Yes, you need a tax stamp for the suppressor. Of course

2020-07-15 18:00:29 UTC

I like the .45ACP for general purpose. It's big and heavy and slow, so if you hit something with it, that something knows it has been hit. Even works for bears.

2020-07-15 18:00:44 UTC

Damn

2020-07-15 18:01:17 UTC

I think I'd feel bad if I killed a bear

2020-07-15 18:01:42 UTC

At least without the intention of eating it

2020-07-15 18:01:51 UTC

a 9mm fmj can pass through an assailant, if you were being attacked, and that assailant will keep coming

2020-07-15 18:02:40 UTC

Well, yes. We don't kill for sport. i live in a place, though, where bears occasionally get into neighborhoods.

2020-07-15 18:03:15 UTC

Mine's coyotes mostly

2020-07-15 18:03:48 UTC

Eastern PA and Jersey are known for bears

2020-07-15 18:04:33 UTC

I would like to eat another moose though

2020-07-15 18:04:50 UTC

Tasty

2020-07-15 18:07:54 UTC

Now THERE you might need the .450

2020-07-15 18:08:18 UTC

9 foot tall giants

2020-07-15 18:47:53 UTC

@Old_Greg 300 BLK subsonic rds with a suppressor is only as loud as the buffer spring and bcg and the brass ejecting from the chamber. Basically.. ie you wouldn't need to wear ear protection, and they fly slower so they dont pass through walls in CQC as easily limiting collateral damage to non militants potentially on the other side..

2020-07-15 18:52:19 UTC

I always forget the .300 AAC

2020-07-15 18:52:45 UTC

Yep, many, many uppers and barrels for this cartridge.

2020-07-15 18:53:01 UTC

Lol oh yeah

2020-07-15 18:54:45 UTC

Does it use the same bolt? I think it does.

2020-07-15 18:57:11 UTC

You just need to change the barrel

2020-07-15 19:12:23 UTC

I think it needs a different buffer assembly, I might be wrong.

2020-07-15 19:13:55 UTC

Bigger spring maybe. Those things are all modular, swap parts

2020-07-15 19:14:20 UTC

I have a DPMS Panther in 5.56

2020-07-15 19:14:32 UTC
2020-07-15 19:23:06 UTC

nice

2020-07-15 19:25:33 UTC

Was looking it up on google, supposed to be able to just swap the barrel for 300 blackout from 5.56, if you use an adjustable gas block you might need a heavier buffer for cycling purposes, but shoot it first and adjust the gas block to see if it will cycle with no issues first

2020-07-15 19:49:53 UTC

Anyone have any idea of how much those are worth normally or what kind they are?

2020-07-15 19:50:07 UTC

I'm wondering if that's a steal

2020-07-15 19:56:04 UTC

Armslist is awesome

2020-07-15 20:00:11 UTC

Yeah lots of cool stuff <:TrumpSmile:720121948088041513>

2020-07-16 02:15:19 UTC

5.56 is a good all-around caliber. I've anchored deer with it, no problem.

.300 Blackout works same buffer and all. Just run two separate uppers (and be REALLY careful not to mix ammo - strongly suggest different magazines for the two calibers). Really like my .300 BLK.

2020-07-16 02:45:59 UTC

@Sage would that be better than a .308 in a Red Dawn scenario where you live in the forest and hunt but also fight off commies?

2020-07-16 02:46:07 UTC

or even 30-06?

2020-07-16 02:46:49 UTC

I've never shot bigger than a 5.56 and I don't have knowledge of anything bigger really lol so I really don't know.

2020-07-16 02:47:20 UTC

300blk supposedly has similar ballistics to 7.62x39

2020-07-16 02:47:39 UTC

Also you can run it subsonic and still do crazy damage

2020-07-16 02:48:17 UTC

.300 BLK falls pretty well short of 7.62x39. It's like .30 Carbine on steroids... 110 grain bullets at around 2200 ft/sec.
