@7y6yUDwp33c7NMGJZ9st nice! Looks like a fun time
it was
I want a Makarov but the round would be harder to find
So I'd like to pick up a ar15. I've noticed you can get it in like all the ammo types. What ammo has the most "support" for options and parts and what not?
Yeah illinois gun laws don't work. Chicago has so many gun restrictions because if the state yet it has some of the highest homicide rates from guns. Showing that gun control doesn't work
@Boneless Jungle Ham the most common is the 5.56 Nato or.223 type. There is unlimited support for those. Of course ammo is super hard to come by right now.
In illinois you have to apply for a firearm ownership card and by law the state police must approve or deny you within 30 days
But they arent
I applied 85 days ago and havent heard shit
Theres reports of people waiting up to 8 months to hear back
But if a private citizen procrastinated something like this, they'd be fucked
@Biker what do you know about 300 black out or something like that
Its subsonic and very quiet with a silencer.
@Boneless Jungle Ham Overrated unless you run a suppressor. If you don't, you may as well run 7.62x39
AR15, just get a 5.56 or a .223 Wylde chambering
What is wylde?
It's the name of the guy who designed a .223 chamber that can handle the chamber pressures of 5.56 nato
So if I get the wylde it can shoot .223 and 5.56? Or are they the same?
They are *similar*
Similar enough for me to shoot either or if got a .223?
The external dimensions of the two cartridges are identical
The difference lies in the internal dimensions
I guess what I'm saying is. Is it possible to shoot both cartridges?
If you get a .223 wylde or a 5.56 barrel, yes
So it's in the barrel? Mostly then?
Nvm that was dumb
Don't sweat it, I'll explain
Thanks for taking time with me my guy
No problem
I mentioned that their external dimensions are identical
5.56 Nato ammo runs at a higher chamber pressure than .223 remington ammo
.223 remington ammo also likes to engage rifling for accuracy much sooner than 5.56 does
The reason that this is important to mention is because the combination of the two will cause a .223 remington barrel to eventually fail
If you run 5.56 through it
OOOHH
Ok I get it now. Sounds like maybe in a jam you could mix match per say. Otherwise pick one and role with it.
You can mix and match as long as you do not buy a dedicated .223 remington chambered barrel
