Many founders had a vested interest and fascination with firearms technology. Anyone tells you the founders didn’t know where guns were going, point out that they were leading the charge.
there was a gun being developed around the time the Founding Fathers were trying to adopt a weapon as the official weapon for the military, having a brain block forget the word, that was capable of firing I think 16 rounds in a minute. I dont remember the name of the gun, but the Founding Fathers didnt use that because of how much more expensive it would be (kind of like how Marines in WW2 used old WW1 rifles because we didnt have enough money or supplies to give everyone state of the art weaponry) so saying that all we had back then was cannons and muskets that fired once a minute is not only a blatant lie, but massive ignorance. They didnt just know where guns were going, we had examples of high capacity, fast firing weapons... and they still upheld the Amendment and what it protected.
Yep
If I'm correct I think a couple founding fathers even owned some prototype weapons
I finally had enough with the AK trigger pin retainer clip. I ordered a steel retainer plate
I am thinking of buying a gun either a revolver or a semi. I also want to get a suppressor/silencer for it. Any recommendations as to sizes ? It will primarily be used for personal protection and range practice - no hunting. Should I buy new or used? Any manufacturers to avoid? Please feel free to DM me so we don't clutter up the channel feed. PLEASE don't tell me to buy the biggest gun I can - that really isn't helpful. LOL I' m leaning towards a 22 - I don't want alot of recoil - I'm old. Thanks for any insights or sharing.
It isn't clutter lol it's what this channel is made for
Pistol, I'm assuming?
Or rifle?
I just don't want to get in trouble with the mods. Pistol
You won't lol
Okay.
I don't need the info RIGHT NOW, so you can think about it
You can talk about guns here. Just need to keep it relevant and legal.
So if you want something with lighter recoil a .380 is pretty solid from what I've heard. Same bullet diameter as a 9mm but less powder
I've never shot one but that's what I've heard
Well, I'm going to take the training and the let you rent the guns for the class so I can always try it out first.
Ah, nice.
Will it take a silencer or a suppressor and is there a difference? I have heard they are the same. Then again, I have heard that suppressor mute muzzle flash while silencers dont?
From what I've heard they're just interchangeable terms
Unfortunately, they aren't having the big outdoor show here, this year usually a ton of gun mfgs.
I have to see what the weight is with the silencer and maybe a laser.
Ah.
A classic recommendation for a pistol if you're fine with 9mm is a Glock 19. Gen 5 MOS allows you to mount a dot sight if you want as well. Maybe you already know that though lol. While Glocks aren't too visually pleasing they're reliable and that's all that matters in a self defense situation. If you want something prettier and if you're into 1911s pretty much any 9mm Springfield or Colt is good.
There's also always the Glock 44 which is chambered in .22. I can't really recommend .22 for self defense but it'll get the job done if it's all you have and you hit the right spots. All based on luck really though
But how often to semis jam? That concerns me in a threat situation.
Not much. It depends on the brand but Glocks are reliable and will hardly jam. One of the most common ways firearm will jam is if you're using bad ammo. Find the brand of ammo that works for your firearm and stick with it. Sometimes certain firearms will jam with hollow points but most don't
Good advice. Thanks
👍
@ThatShadyVandal you got anything to add that I missed?
I know you're pretty gun smart
