I always carry a small patch kit and a good hand pump for me bike. if i expect a flat where im riding, ill bring spare tubes, or better yet, go tubeless
honestly, if you want to move fast and stay lightweight, tubeless tires are just the better option
My brother has tubeless tires in his bike but man are they expensive to replace of someone steals your tires.
oh yeah. I think i I spent 60 bucks on my tire alone (i only have run the rear tubeless right not). You can easily spend double that though
Friends, I have someone in another server who is looking for a holographic sight for an M1A, preferrably around $250 after shipping and taxes. Anyone have any good options?
Where are you going that you need a bike?? WHY are you going?? If it really hits the fan you want to be invisible, if you're not already out of "Dodge" it'll be too late to leave. You need 6 months of food per person, and a quiet way to protect it and you if you're discovered and you really need to be where you won't be discovered BEFORE it hits the fan. You need to be there already, yesterday, and for years.
As for EMP, there already exists EMP devices as powerful as nuclear weapons that will cook everything not in a faraday cage that are not nuclear. There is a work of fiction called "One Second After" by William R. Forstchen, give it a read. But bear in mind that only works in a small community that was fairly close knit BEFORE it hit the fan. If you're within 30 miles of a major city ... MOVE.
Good thing the only major city im close too is roughly 100 miles away

@Erby does it need to be holographic or can it be red dot? Holographic sights are expensive because they are a lot more complex then a normal red dot.
@Stargatemaster96 It can be red dot after asking my friend about it. I can link the rifle that he plans on getting the red dot for.
Due to travelling back and forth between TX and CA his rifle is CA-compliant, which is kinda sad.

@Bar powerful non nuclear EMP devices are very large and need huge power sources so it's not a first strike thing like a nuke detonated at high altitude, however I still see a CME as a bigger threat then those EMPs because they can effect half the earth at once and still fry many things because it effects long distance wires.
how does one construct a faraday cage?
asking for a friend

@Erby I use a EOtech holosight but that is out of budget. That said, I have friends who own Holosun sites and love them and I know at least some are within budget.

@ThiccSpicyGenderRevealParty quick and dirt one you can do is get a metal trash can with metal lid, then use metal tape to make a good seal between the lid and can so there is no gap.
@Stargatemaster96
A nuclear powered EMP can fit on a 727.
Nuclear can be fairly compact, thou to be effective as an EMP, they need to be detonated higher than I think a 727 flies but my point about size was for non nuclear like you mentioned.
Fair point David, but I could still see a scenario where a bug-out might be in order. say, e.g., a bad hurricane. You may not need to hunt to survive, but say you get stuck in the storm, you don't want to stick around. Standing water can stick around for weeks in some cases, and you are likely to come in contact with a trove of diseases if your try to stay. The sooner you can carry yourself to a checkpoint or some other place of safety, the better.

Did it again, hitting enter posts.
Anyway, an EMP large enough to effect a large area needs to be high, 10 of them over just ten major cities will be sufficient to shut down this country. That is recoverable but will be devastating for millions.
I think you missed my point. There are EMPs caused by a nuclear blast. There are EMPs that are not caused by a nuclear blast but are powered by portable nuclear reactors. Those exist and fit on airplanes. If a stone age bunch can fly four planes into buildings, imagine if they get a modicum of technical ability.
Ah EMP, one reason i own a classic car
My my understanding of some basic research, non nuclear EMPs need to be strategically placed in cities rather then detonated at altitude. Those types of EMPs have the limited range because the damage is done by field strength which falls off literally and is not total energy levels. Nuclear based EMPs detnated at high altitude in the van allen belt have the gama and beta radiation interact with the field causes a three pulses. An E1 which is a very high speed pulse that is nearly impossible to stop with hardening that will take out computers and sensitive electronics, the E2 which is easy to protect against but that protection is likely compromised by the E1, and finally the E3 which is a slow pulse that can last minutes and is the most dangerous to the grid because it would heat up the wires and transformers causing them to fail.
Nuclear and CME (Corona Mass ejections) both interact with our planet's magnetic field and cause a much wider area of destruction and I think are what is most important when discussing EMPs. The non nuclear strategic are something a terrorist could do but the damage would be mostly localized. However they could potentially effect more if they to teach the targeted failure points in our grid to attack rather then a city.
> Ah EMP, one reason i own a classic car
Tesla's have EMP shields though don't they? xD
wonder if they actually work
I don't think they have any more shielding then a normal car which are actually fairly shielded just by the design of cars. However most of the discussions I found on Tesla are only talking about EMPs that include an E1 pulse which I think only nuclear EMPs have and not CMEs. If you have an E1 pulse, anything with a computer is fried.
Frankly with E1 being next to impossible to protect against, I will just accept my fate at that point because to have an E1 pulse someone would have had to detonated a nuclear weapon nearby and either the radiation or following war will kill me. That's why I prefer to prep for CME which happen all the time but thankfully have only hit earth once after we had technology that would be effected by it and with enough strength to do any more than destroy satellites that aren't as protected by our magnetic field. An event like the 1859 Carrington Event would be disastrous for our modern world but with some hardening of the grid and your house's electrical panels can be severely mitigated.
This is more but it uses no batteries @Erby .. I swap it between alot of my rifles

Holosuns are great...I'll do a bit more research when I'm not at work
@Aperfectghost I'll pass it off to my friend and see if he's willing to save a bit more for it. Thanks
Illegally modified full auto AR15 with 200 round mag
In long run he'll save on batteries
What do you fly in the CAP? Just curious@JDButAPilot🇺🇸
@Aperfectghost Cessna 152, 172, gliders, sometimes jets, some pipers, and a couple other cessnas
Gliders would be fun, my uncle before he passed trained me on a Cessna 152
Also the sun can cause an EMP at literally any time with only an 11 minute warning so
Yeah we are timed for a complete power grid failure soon
No one knows when only NORAD installations and stuff of that level with be safe
Thats why I micro wave all of my electronics when I get them to pre EMP them like a shot
@Aperfectghost If you have free time i'd join your local sqaudren its cheap and amazing you get your private pilots for about 200$ instead of 2500$
Yep true, I should too bad I don't know what this freetime you speak of is but that's a better deal for a PPL
Ah I see someone is in the CAP as well. This pleases me.
