If I'm old enough to go fight and die in a foreign country for mine using weaponry capable of leveling an entire village, there is no reason I shouldn't be allowed to own an AK47 at 18

My thoughts exactly, if we trust our 18 year old soldiers with much more destructive weapons, anyone at 18 (that is otherwise eligible) should be able to own our neutered civilian weapons.

But in Idaho, although you cannot purchase a pistol until 21 you can open carry at 18 so you can own one but not buy it
