This is in the times when men begin to multiply over the Earth

2020-11-07 12:32:52 UTC

What does that have to do with anything?

2020-11-07 12:33:14 UTC

You said The Book of Enoch is a theory
@DannyNC1

2020-11-07 12:33:24 UTC

I'm trying to explain to you why it's not

2020-11-07 12:33:35 UTC

Ephesians 6:12

King James Version

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

2020-11-07 15:29:02 UTC

@DannyNC1 "he had you in the first half" you thought the Mormon was Christian at first.

2020-11-07 15:29:41 UTC

@ARCADEIUS No, I do not consider it to be authentic. The only message from him that would be authentic that has lasted to this time is in Jude 14-15 and possibly verse 16 also, though that may just be Jude's commentary on the statement of Enoch. There are reasons why books of the Bible are considered authentic and why others are not. One of the prime factors is that nowhere in the 66 books is it mentioned that Enoch wrote a book, or that someone wrote a book of his message. He is only referred to in Gen. 5, the genealogy of Luke 3, Heb. 11:5 as a testimony of faith, and then in Jude. Nothing else. Regarding the timeframe you are trying to focus on, from Genesis 6, I recommend you watch these two helpful videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxoWpUCRnIk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3u71OB0LTiM

2020-11-07 17:33:30 UTC

@DannyNC1 "Mormonism"? Well, first we don't go by Mormons and second, we are Christians... Idk why we wouldn't be. We believe in the same God as you, we believe in the bible, we believe there is life after death, we believe there is a heaven and a hell, and more.

2020-11-07 17:35:27 UTC

There are many differences in what most christians believe and what is stated in the mormon church

2020-11-07 17:35:36 UTC

I should know

2020-11-07 17:37:13 UTC

Yes I'm sure there are.

2020-11-07 17:39:19 UTC

I am not a mormon. I went to a mormon church every other weekend with my dad. Went to a non-denominational church with my mom. There are many things that don't add up to me that are taught in the mormon church.

2020-11-07 17:40:05 UTC

Could you tell me a few? I can try my best to answer what doesn't make sense.

2020-11-07 17:43:03 UTC

One) our souls are in heaven before we are born.

2020-11-07 17:43:44 UTC

Two) when we die, husband and their wives become deities of their own planet

2020-11-07 17:44:50 UTC

Three) the first prophet saw God and Jesus. Why did his face not shine brightly like when Moses saw God's back?

2020-11-07 17:45:45 UTC

Four) why would Joseph Smith not allow others to see the tablets?

2020-11-07 18:11:18 UTC

Ok, so for 1. I did not know that's not what most Christians believe lol. And I really have nothing to say on that since it's just what we believe...

2. That is not a Gospel truth to us. It is just that some members believe that but that is not a doctrine belief.

3. I'm not sure about this... I didn't know that Moses' face shined brightly? That's news to me lol.

4. Joseph Smith did not let others see the plates because God told him not to because they were sacred. He did actually show eight people. three people were showed the plates by an angel. They have written their testimony in doing so. Joseph was also not allowed to show others the plates because the more people they showed the more danger they would be in because after all, they were gold. Even without showing a ton of people they were still in danger and that was just from word of mouth. They had already had their house pillaged a couple of times when mobs were looking for the plates.

Testimony of the three witnesses below

Be it known unto all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people, unto whom this work shall come: That we, through the grace of God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, have seen the plates which contain this record, which is a record of the people of Nephi, and also of the Lamanites, their brethren, and also of the people of Jared, who came from the tower of which hath been spoken. And we also know that they have been translated by the gift and power of God, for his voice hath declared it unto us; wherefore we know of a surety that the work is true. And we also testify that we have seen the engravings which are upon the plates; and they have been shown unto us by the power of God, and not of man. And we declare with words of soberness, that an angel of God came down from heaven, and he brought and laid before our eyes, that we beheld and saw the plates, and the engravings thereon; and we know that it is by the grace of God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, that we beheld and bear record that these things are true. And it is marvelous in our eyes. Nevertheless, the voice of the Lord commanded us that we should bear record of it; wherefore, to be obedient unto the commandments of God, we bear testimony of these things. And we know that if we are faithful in Christ, we shall rid our garments of the blood of all men, and be found spotless before the judgment-seat of Christ, and shall dwell with him eternally in the heavens. And the honor be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, which is one God. Amen.

Testimony of the eight witnesses

Be it known unto all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people, unto whom this work shall come: That Joseph Smith, Jun., the translator of this work, has shown unto us the plates of which hath been spoken, which have the appearance of gold; and as many of the leaves as the said Smith has translated we did handle with our hands; and we also saw the engravings thereon, all of which has the appearance of ancient work, and of curious workmanship. And this we bear record with words of soberness, that the said Smith has shown unto us, for we have seen and hefted, and know of a surety that the said Smith has got the plates of which we have spoken. And we give our names unto the world, to witness unto the world that which we have seen. And we lie not, God bearing witness of it.

They were not able to translate it though.

2020-11-07 18:17:51 UTC

What about the verse in the Bible where it says that if anyone, even an angel, preaches a gospel contrary to the one there, that it is false?

2020-11-07 18:18:53 UTC

This is something not really talked about either.
