I've been somewhat struggling with my connection with God.

Deeds, not words. If all you needed to do was lip service, it'd be pretty damned easy to be a good Christian.

2020-11-27 20:46:32 UTC

how do christians know there religion is the correct one and not just a more ideologically advanced doctrine versus the quran. What distinction can be made rationally.

2020-11-27 20:53:01 UTC

This explains our philosophy

2020-11-27 22:06:21 UTC

Mere Christianity, by C.S. Lewis would be a good read to explain as well.

2020-11-27 22:23:16 UTC

Hey guys I'm trying to find the Book of Palmists

2020-11-27 22:23:29 UTC

Is that a denominational thing, like the Catholic Bible?

2020-11-27 23:00:09 UTC

It's from the Codex Democrates. It accounts the trials and tribulations of Saint Rosary (Rosy) Palms and her 5 sisters in the month of November.

2020-11-27 23:37:45 UTC

The Christian worldview is the only worldview that provides the preconditions for intelligible experience and knowledge.

2020-11-27 23:38:34 UTC

I watched that video and I was thinking about writing exactly why I felt it was inadequately answering my question, but decided against it.

2020-11-27 23:40:28 UTC

to summarize... The things in which he proclaims makes his religion different , are in most part the things that make all religions different from each other.

I thought the end in which the other gentlemen discusses how the resurrections historical accuracy shouldnt be questioned interesting.

2020-11-27 23:40:31 UTC

Need to look into it more

2020-11-27 23:46:53 UTC

There's evidence for the Resurrection. Chrisrianity rose from a persecuted sect in Judea to the religion of Rome in a matter of three centuries. The philosophy of Christianity has influenced the World more than any other creed. I'm ending it at that.

2020-11-27 23:47:52 UTC

Im not about throwing the baby out with the bathwater...

2020-11-27 23:48:12 UTC

I know some religious stories have decent moral value instilled in them

2020-11-27 23:48:19 UTC

All.

2020-11-27 23:48:22 UTC

Jordan Peterson talks about that.

2020-11-27 23:48:42 UTC

Jordan Peterson is an overrated crackhead who was based about gender

2020-11-27 23:48:49 UTC

Those ideas can be separate from the religion is what I would suggest.

2020-11-27 23:48:54 UTC

He's good in a few contexts

2020-11-27 23:49:09 UTC

But what is the foundation of these moral values. For other religions?

2020-11-27 23:49:44 UTC

My initial question really asks why you believe Christianity, given the nature of other religions and how closely paralleled the believers can be to eachother.

2020-11-27 23:49:45 UTC

The univeralism of certain moral principles serves to prove a singular origin of Humanity in contrast to secular polygeny

2020-11-27 23:50:26 UTC

And as I said, Christianity has more weighing in its favor than any other religion, and I own a 400 page book comprehensively proving that

2020-11-27 23:50:32 UTC

the messages dont matter in that context.. because whether morally better or not the principles of any given doctrine are a matter of faith.

2020-11-27 23:50:51 UTC

Not so. There's no such thing as a neutral ground. You either have a foundation or you don't. Morality can only be founded within the Christian worldview, as well as the preconditions for knowledge. Jordan Peterson can play Jungian Psychology all he wants, but it doesn't refute the thesis.

2020-11-27 23:51:06 UTC

Jungian lol

2020-11-27 23:51:35 UTC

What do you mean morality is a christian worldview

2020-11-27 23:51:46 UTC

I have a few points I think may help:
While this first one may not be a direct, irrefutable peace of evidence, I think it’s still a good point to make:
Between Christianity and other popular religious views, Christianity is the only one that doesn’t require any works to get into Heaven. You can’t earn your way into Heaven. We get into Heaven by believing in Christ, Who paid our debt for us, that when God looks at is, He sees Jesus’ perfect record. Our sins are forgiven and forgotten, as far as the east is from the west.

For more direct evidence:
One important thing to note, is that the Apostles (all but one, which was exiled on an island) died for their faith, having gained nothing for their testimony. They would have no reason to do so unless they fully believed it was true.

The Bible is also completely consistent within itself. It does not contradict itself. Most things in it that would be considered contradictions can be explained by misunderstandings. God directly made the Bible have stories that would confound the wise.

Also, many prophesies made have and are coming true. An example is Israel becoming a nation again in recent times.

2020-11-27 23:51:48 UTC

Christian Law defines morality

2020-11-27 23:51:52 UTC

Oh damn
