2020-09-22 01:05:55 UTC

picture kind of sucks, first time ever cooking porkchops

2020-09-22 01:05:58 UTC

came out so perfectly

2020-09-22 01:06:38 UTC

my father made pork chops every now and then, and these somehow kicked the ass of whatever he was making. they were so good I ate everything.

2020-09-22 01:28:02 UTC

How did you cook it? Pork chops don't have the most fat so they can get dried out when cooking if not careful.

2020-09-22 01:30:52 UTC

Then you've got jerky <:KEK:726877368601411624>

2020-09-22 01:37:47 UTC

@Wardog dang that looks good enough to make a vegan wanna eat some pork! 🤤

2020-09-22 01:38:28 UTC

yessss thank you

2020-09-22 01:39:06 UTC

@Stargatemaster96 after looking online I saw that, so I seared them on a high heat at first, then turned the heat way down and cooking them for a much longer time on a low heat. searing them to trap the moisture inside

2020-09-22 01:39:21 UTC

pan fried them by the way. just got my special pan and cooked em on the stove in a lot of butter

2020-09-22 01:41:35 UTC

Hard to go wrong with butter. What's your special pan? I have a nice tri-clad I use for most things but for meat I prefer tried and true cast iron.

2020-09-22 01:42:35 UTC

20 dollar pan I got from Winn Dixie

2020-09-22 01:42:37 UTC

lol

2020-09-22 01:43:42 UTC

Hey, we all have to start somewhere. I have a few nice pans I treated myself with when starting graduate school and moving into my first apartment but most of my pans are hand-me-downs or gifts.

2020-09-22 01:45:20 UTC

If you want a pan you can cook but also move to the oven, Lodge cast iron skillets are cheap ~$20-30 and will last multiple lifetimes if taken care of.

2020-09-22 01:45:45 UTC

They are also american made.

2020-09-22 01:52:18 UTC

yeah the issue is the stove in my house is glass top, so I cant use cast iron skillets. at least thats what ive been told.

2020-09-22 01:52:42 UTC

and I really dont like cooking, but sometimes there isnt anything in the fridge to eat besides things that have to be cooked, or my tastebuds really want me to exert some effort

2020-09-22 02:05:57 UTC

Old cast irons may scratch glass tops potentially but if it's new and you don't slide it all around you should be fine. One of my stoves is glass top (my apartment is weird, I have a small two burner glass cooktop in my apartment but then have a communal older style electric range that four apartments share) and haven't had any problems or signs that my pan would scratch it.

2020-09-22 02:07:05 UTC

I think if you have used a cast iron in a fire it may have some carbon buildup that could scratch but new cast iron is smoothed somewhat usually before being sold.

2020-09-22 02:09:27 UTC

gotcha. the stove is old, and my mother and I both have a bad habit of sliding the pans around, so probably not the greatest idea for me lol. I bought the 20 dollar pan because thats what I can afford, dont need to fuck up the oven. lmao
