Hooni is that type of design because there are hoonicars too

2020-09-09 04:20:20 UTC

Is that like a design?

2020-09-09 04:20:24 UTC

Idk what that is

2020-09-09 04:22:04 UTC

Not sure

2020-09-09 04:26:26 UTC

@Mcpuffin First day we brought it home

2020-09-09 04:26:46 UTC

missing the T tops and all?

2020-09-09 04:26:51 UTC

I have the t-tops

2020-09-09 04:26:54 UTC

what was up with the tranny?

2020-09-09 04:26:59 UTC

Bearings were torched

2020-09-09 04:27:15 UTC

I had it rebuilt and upgraded by a guy that builds them for drag racing

2020-09-09 04:27:18 UTC

ahhh the only tranny I really know is the Dana SPicer 300

2020-09-09 04:27:35 UTC

This here is an M21 Muncie. Quiet brother of the infamous "Rock Crusher"

2020-09-09 04:28:28 UTC

The gears are cut at a 45 degree angle, which cuts down on noise. Ratios are the same. It's a road racing transmission

2020-09-09 04:29:08 UTC

2.20:1 first gear doesn't lend itself well for off-the line acceleration unless you gear the rear end accordingly but my car should theoretically be able to do well into the 50s without shifting

2020-09-09 04:29:26 UTC

Manual?

2020-09-09 04:29:29 UTC

Yeah

2020-09-09 04:29:55 UTC

Shit yea GET THAT BITCH UP TO 6k RPM and through it into first

2020-09-09 04:29:58 UTC

hahahaha

2020-09-09 04:30:21 UTC

Should handle 6000 rpm

2020-09-09 04:30:31 UTC

Somebody put money into these cylinder heads. See those plates?

2020-09-09 04:31:17 UTC

Those are guide plates to keep the pushrods from deflecting at high RPM. Somebody also put a solid lifter camshaft in it that is noticeably choppy at idle

2020-09-09 04:31:56 UTC

We think it's pushing somewhere in the low to mid 300 horsepower range

2020-09-09 04:32:35 UTC

Im seeing a single intake on that carb.

2020-09-09 04:32:49 UTC

Yep, vintage holley single plane aluminum intake

2020-09-09 04:32:59 UTC

Back when the street dominator was a single plane

2020-09-09 04:33:49 UTC

Whats this solid lifter cam shaft?

2020-09-09 04:35:03 UTC

This is the lifter valley of an engine

2020-09-09 04:35:18 UTC

You see those steel rods?

2020-09-09 04:35:49 UTC

At the bottom, they fit inside of these cylindrical objects that sit through bores in the casting

2020-09-09 04:35:54 UTC

Those are the lifters

2020-09-09 04:36:37 UTC

The lifters ride on this precision ground "stick" called a camshaft

2020-09-09 04:36:52 UTC

This controls how far and for how long the valves open

2020-09-09 04:38:14 UTC

Most vehicles today and many even back in the 60s had a hydraulic lifter. Oil pressure "pumps it up" and this compensates for any tolerance stacking or wear in the valvetrain, making it maintenance free. The downside is they don't typically perform well at high RPM

2020-09-09 04:38:45 UTC

A solid lifter will not collapse, you don't have to worry about check valves failing, lifters having issues pumping up, etc.

2020-09-09 05:24:39 UTC

A push rod V8.

2020-09-09 05:25:40 UTC

I prefer twin cam I4’s but that’s just me. I have respect for the V8.

2020-09-09 05:26:02 UTC

Different strokes for different folks, eh?

2020-09-09 05:26:41 UTC

Yep.

2020-09-09 05:27:19 UTC

One of my buddies swapped in a 4A-GE? I think it is, into an AE86

2020-09-09 05:27:32 UTC

Some 20 valve 4-cylinder from Japan
