Actually their saliva isn't toxic. That's a myth
Ok so they are venomous then?
Yes. All monitor lizards are venomous. It's been theorized that they mix the venom with their saliva and then bite because they don't have fangs like snakes do. (For the Komodo dragon). Other monitors are like this as well.
The Gila monster and the beaded lizard are also venomous. But they're also related to monitor lizards.
I want one as a pet, James bond villan style

Lol
<:troll_face:726878856585281557>
The Gila monster actually chews to inject its venom.
And do a horrible impersonation of Scarface, "say ello to my lil fren!"
*Gila monster comes running and then yeets itself onto another person.*
Lol
I've seen a live Komodo in person. It do be a big boi.
me too
its a big lizard, gator sized almost
Yeah I wonder which would be terror indicing, coming across a full grown hungry komodo in the wild, or a hungry bear.
except, it is on land
Komodo
a bear will most likely only attack you if you are near its cubs
Oh I never saw it in the wild. I saw it at the zoo.
im not going to komodo
Yeah I figured
Pretty cool animal.
thats a terrible idea
Let's do it!
Team terrible idea go!

Lmfao
Well I'd be more terrified of the dragon hands down. They're extremely efficient runners.
A monitor lizard can run up a hill faster than your average Joe can down it.
They are somewhat social too right? So odds are, it wouldn't be alone?
Eh I'm not sure how social they are. They're probably like crocodiles when it comes to that. In videos I've seen of them being in groups it's always when they're eating something.
Or someone <:troll_face:726878856585281557>
Similar, most images/videos I've seen are of them in groups
Oh π© then
Reptiles don't pack hunt. However, they can eat something together. Doesn't mean there won't be fighting and competition.
I mean their main diet are deer. Not exactly a slow animal.
Yeah. That's why I said they're efficient runners. Even better ambush predators.
Brrr
Because they likely don't run things down outright. They ambush it, bite it and eat it right away if it's a smaller animal *or* if it's a larger animal they wait for the venom to take effect and then they feast.
