That's nice Smokie π
I heard a story once about goanna monitor lizards being able to take down a horse. I know Komodos eat deer, so im not certain if they got the two lizards confused. But I do know that Goannas can run/sprint fast enough to catch a horse.
I blame Smokies dad joke for bringing this up.
Komodos are terrifying
Have that really toxic saliva
Yeah nasty bite casues necrosis, has to do with their serated teeth if i remember right. But there is an old colonial tale about European explorers being warned away from the plains, being told about lizards big enough and fast enough to run down a horse. They were not believed until it happened to them. Details are vague though.
Bits of the komodos food get stuck in the tooth and rots creating the necrotic saliva i think looking up now
Septic saliva not necrotic my bad
Actually their saliva isn't toxic. That's a myth
Ok so they are venomous then?
Yes. All monitor lizards are venomous. It's been theorized that they mix the venom with their saliva and then bite because they don't have fangs like snakes do. (For the Komodo dragon). Other monitors are like this as well.
The Gila monster and the beaded lizard are also venomous. But they're also related to monitor lizards.
I want one as a pet, James bond villan style

The Gila monster actually chews to inject its venom.
And do a horrible impersonation of Scarface, "say ello to my lil fren!"
*Gila monster comes running and then yeets itself onto another person.*
Lol
me too
its a big lizard, gator sized almost
Yeah I wonder which would be terror indicing, coming across a full grown hungry komodo in the wild, or a hungry bear.
except, it is on land
Komodo
a bear will most likely only attack you if you are near its cubs
Oh I never saw it in the wild. I saw it at the zoo.
oh same here
im not going to komodo
Yeah I figured
Pretty cool animal.
thats a terrible idea
Let's do it!
Team terrible idea go!

Lmfao
Well I'd be more terrified of the dragon hands down. They're extremely efficient runners.
A monitor lizard can run up a hill faster than your average Joe can down it.
They are somewhat social too right? So odds are, it wouldn't be alone?
Eh I'm not sure how social they are. They're probably like crocodiles when it comes to that. In videos I've seen of them being in groups it's always when they're eating something.
