you relise hormone production is regulate by genetics. it was thought to be a mental illness up until two years ago when it was proven hormone production is on a dual poled spectrum. it is not a mental illness it is how the human body is made.
what
Hmmmmmm... proof?
don't trsut on polotics but they ain't opinionated about science
HUH. Interesting test.
So to sum up answers to everything here; the pentagon makes most of the adminstrative regs for the military after the president sets policy, they may be in direct conflict with one another. Hold each party accountable for their own direct actions, not one for all of them.
...
Transgender issues get generalized for political gain or to prove a point instead of dealing with specific issues of each case. Sometimes it is a mental issue in one case, sometimes it is a hormonal issue to another, and in rare cases it's a biological issue (intersex).
A more valid approach would be to deal with a specific and well documented case and discuss the issues relating to that case alone.
Might sound dumb but wouldn't it be better to test the mental capacity of each individual (LGBT) and then see if they are capable for the job instead of just ruling them out all together?
It doesn't sound dumb
tbh I'm not well educated on transgender issues but it makes sense to test for mental illness
at least that's what I'm gathering from this
Compared to the other groups in the LGBT community, Transgenders are more often than not suffer more from mental issues that can vary from something simple and harmless like autism all the way to sociopathic schizophrenia and for those that transition require a high amount of maintenance with hormone injections or the usage of tools to keep their body from returning to how it originally was
Which in the military, high maintenance individual's are almost always denied entry into service as they become a huge burdon on logistics
And the military generally keeps mentally impaired people from joining as over the history of the Military, mentally unwell people have posed not just a threat to it and themselves, but to civilians around them in a conflict zone
@Toilet Hugger why not everybody?
Or everybody. I don't care. Just mentioned LGBT because that's the topic
@Zilla well most mental issues that are not genetic result from troubled upbringing and emotional trama
@Toilet Hugger if we do everybody i could get on board with that
@Zilla and a group with a high sucicde rate because they parents hate or aboandon or don't exe[t them, that could lead to some serious stuff
I don't know a lot about military etc but wouldn't hurt to let every aspiring soldier get a checkup on their mental stability before they join so incidents like that guy who killed his own comrades because he was a extremist doesn't happen again. (I forgot the details of the case)
great idea, I agree i was just confused because I though you meant only for LGBTQ people
Oh yeah I remember. The dude was a muslim extremist that joined the military and then launched grenades at his officers or something like that
So what exactly was the original argument here?
I think it is strange to assume that the transgender suicide rate is so high because of how they are treated in society. The attempted suicide rate is at 30%. Pre and post operation shows almost no statistical difference. That rate is as high as the suicide rate of German-Jews during the Third Reich. For homosexuals, they only attempt suicide 12% of the time. That’s still high, but arguing that transgender people in the western world are treated more poorly than Jews in Nazi Germany or, for example, gays in Iran, I think is ridiculous.
no, that is true, but the jews parents loved them, also can I have your stats
For what specifically
idk what's going on per se, but I would like to just say, it doesn't matter someone's circumstances or how they are raised, if you do not qualify to be in the army because of a mental illness or mental disorder, you are simply just not qualified. It does not matter if you are born with it or if it due to the way you were raised, you still do not meet the requirements for the army. Sure, maybe we need more programs or ways of dealing with these things, but just saying " oh well it's due to my childhood" doesn't dismiss the fact that your mental state poses risks in the army. Military, I mean
Reminds me of the 300 scene with Ephialtes
