You were saying the "dude" is saying gender has nothing to do with biology. Whoever this dude is, is right, gender is social, sex biological, simplest way to remember it
Meanwhile in other languages: :|
Question: If genetic mutations that create hermaphrodites or other sexual reproduction abnormalities creates 'new genders,' that are backed by science, what have these people to say on the genetic differences between ethnicities? Are different racial classes actually entirely different species because of differences in biology?
Again... gender is social, sex is biological
A lot of things you cant choose. Like age and race and gender except in English. I dont see how practical it is
Gender is a social contruct crafted by a French female scientist in the 50's as a theory, and daid theory would be tested in the 70's by an american scientist with 2 young boys, one of which he forced to be dressed and acted as female and the other raised as a male. this experiment would ultimately lead to both committing suicide later in life
That's one of the problems in this conversation. SOME people argue gender is biological
Some don't
We can't even have an actual conversation on an issue if the rules are not set to talk about the same thing
Hmm would they have committed suicide if they weren't forced? Or felt pressured to
p sure there was gender theory going on in 1930s Germany
Its pretty established that gender is social, many people use the word wrong which is why people think that way
I can get around the idea of transgender. is there a lot of theories of non binary?
Gender was a synonym for sex 10-15 years ago.
yea it's only been recently I've heard of non binary.
Yes, gender is a social construct. Problem is you see people saying trans women are biological women.
The use of the word only really came into use in the past 50 years and the notion of gender, sex and such have only really been studied more in less than that time
I wouldn't say they are biological women. Like they would dominate women sports.
There is a good amount of science of Male and female brains being different which I can get behind.
I would consider them as the female sex but in my opinion thats irrelevant, gender is far more shaping on lives and thats really what I care about
the 2 are different based on the chemical balance in them, disrupt this balance with any other chemical or force this sex exclusive chemical to not produce can lead to mental health issues, such as improper growth of the brain at best and tumors inside the brain at worst
If they went through surgery than perhaps. If not than nope
Im biologically a man but im not defined by my reproductive system, I've been shaped by how I was raised, the culture around me, the education I received
Do you identify as trans or non binary by any chance?
no
Defined? No. Influenced? Yes. Men and women think and develop differently based on the testosterone and estrogen in them.
It's also why when you start taking hormones as a transgender person, the doctors tell you that your behavior WILL Change. Your brain won't change any because it's already developed, but the biological chemicals in your body DO influence behavior.
I don't have much time so I'll end off with my stance. I dont care what gender you are as long as you dont deny your biological sex and make it your sole personality
Both differ, some men have a lot of testosterone some dont, same for women
And the biological chemicals in your body DO influence how your body grows in utero and beyond
Theres always variances. Not sure how it affects your masculinity or femininity
Your amount of testosterone doesnt really influence social constructs by any significant amount
Ah gotcha. Know they are impactful in sports
Your biological sex does not control or define you or anyone. But to deny that biological sex, the genetic makeup of one's body, does not have influence on the way the mind develops, works, emotion control, etc is blatantly false.
Look at just about ANY relationship therapist and they will tell you men and women communicate differently.
Which is usually what causes the biggest problems in relationships
Oh yea people who deny their sex I whole heartedly disagree with
p sure we agree gender is a social construct in the causes where we legit mean gender expression.
Women and men communicate different due to how they have been raised
When I was a kid/teen, I did a lot of online roleplaying where the forum rules prohibited sexual content, so in order to avoid even saying the word 'sex' on profiles, people used 'gender.' It was legitimately a synonym for sex.
