iirc it was more expensive to fake a moon landing than to land a real man on the moon.

If it was indeed fake, the Soviets (who had obviously a lot of budget for the KGB and their Space Industry) would have not stopped talking about it, we would be hearing also from these Soviets that Apollo 11 was not real.

The Soviets would have taken advantage of it, which they did not.
