Aww

2020-08-18 03:02:28 UTC

Its smaller

2020-08-18 03:02:32 UTC

And same actually

2020-08-18 03:02:40 UTC

The light and first motor still work.

2020-08-18 03:03:30 UTC

The electro coupler needs rewiring.

2020-08-18 03:04:21 UTC

What about the other train

2020-08-18 03:05:07 UTC

This is the Hornby the day I got it.

2020-08-18 03:05:25 UTC

That is cool

2020-08-18 03:05:36 UTC

Thanks.

2020-08-18 03:05:41 UTC

I just looked it up

2020-08-18 03:05:51 UTC

Its a crank up toy

2020-08-18 03:06:22 UTC

I’m converting it to electric.

2020-08-18 03:07:23 UTC

It would be cool if it was still original

2020-08-18 03:08:06 UTC

This is how it pretty much looks now...

2020-08-18 03:08:33 UTC

Do you know how to put it back together

2020-08-18 03:08:48 UTC

The spring was completely gone and the gears were worn out.

2020-08-18 03:09:04 UTC

Yeah, it’s almost there...

2020-08-18 03:09:10 UTC

Ok

2020-08-18 03:09:49 UTC

The new gearing with the electric motor is pretty hard but the wiring is all sorted out.

2020-08-18 03:10:15 UTC

One question

2020-08-18 03:10:24 UTC

Okay, shoot.

2020-08-18 03:10:26 UTC

How old are you

2020-08-18 03:10:33 UTC

22...?

2020-08-18 03:10:43 UTC

Oh

2020-08-18 03:10:48 UTC

Im 14

2020-08-18 03:11:20 UTC

Any classes you took to do stuff like that @Plague Doctor Lawrence

2020-08-18 03:11:48 UTC

I kinda want to do stuff like that

2020-08-18 03:13:33 UTC

The pickups were made from bits of the broken spring with cardboard to insulate them from the frame and hard wire to act as springs to keep them on the middle rail.

2020-08-18 03:14:31 UTC

@um I’m taking some electronics classes online, but I’ve been kinda self taught since I was your age.

2020-08-18 03:14:50 UTC

Cool

2020-08-18 03:15:20 UTC

If you want help with it I’m here.

2020-08-18 03:15:30 UTC

Have you ever tryed to fix something but instead make it worse

2020-08-18 03:15:51 UTC

Oh yeah... I’ve done that...

2020-08-18 03:16:13 UTC

Well you learn from experience

2020-08-18 03:16:22 UTC

Yep.

2020-08-18 03:16:24 UTC

Thats what i say

2020-08-18 03:17:52 UTC

You can see I trimmed the frame for a bigger motor but the bigger motor wasn’t any good so I opted for a smaller one with reduction gearing.

2020-08-18 03:18:55 UTC

I cant actually tell

2020-08-18 03:19:32 UTC

Really?

2020-08-18 03:19:42 UTC

Okay, that’s cool.

2020-08-18 03:20:35 UTC

I do see the thing the touches the tracks some the train can move
