Was it an accidental discharge or not even the police? From the pictures I saw it was a crowded hallway/room, with many different people. It doesn't make sense for the police to just shoot, but then again, not much in today's world makes sense.

It's unfortunate -- but even if it was the police, we shouldn't turn against police as a whole. That's what the left wants, and I'm worried the right is falling into that trap ( I heard many shouting f* the police, etc. ) We should be going after those in CHARGE of the police, as in many cases they are unfortunate lackeys (which is still bad though).
