The term "under god" reflects on our very needed humility as a species. The day we see ourselves as the driving force to do good is the day we will STOP being inherently good

"under god" was added later on, and i dislike it. I stopped saying "under god" when reciting the pledge because of that, but also because i stopped subscribing to religion.
