2020-10-22 16:17:06 UTC

@BrightPopz If you read the verse after you get a better understanding: "And the LORD was with Judah, and he took possession of the hill country, but he could not drive out the inhabitants of the plain because they had chariots of iron. And Hebron was given to Caleb, as Moses had said. And he drove out from it the three sons of Anak." - Judges 1:19-20 The land was intended for Caleb, not Judah. There is no contradiction.

Joe, nobody here is a snowflake. That being said, is that really how you want your time in the server to end? With a rule 1 violation?

The idea of God as a singular, omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent being is neither exclusive to nor originating from the judeo-christian religions. It's derived from ancient philosophical "proofs" (proof herein meaning conclusive logical chains, like a mathematical proof, not evidence, like Hunter Biden's laptop). One such proof (originally presented by Aristotle) is predicated on the assumption that "change exists". It asserts that change always has a cause, but for that cause to happen, it too would need a cause, and for that to not track back infinitely, there must be an "unmoved mover". I forget the exact logic behind it, but it reaches the conclusion that there must ultimately be only a single "unmoved mover." Since power is the ability to enact change, if there exists a singular baseline cause of all change, that entity would be the source of all power, e.g. all powerful, e.g. omnipotent. It goes on to assert that all changes are the results of specific patterns of causes, and for a single entity to be the baseline initiator of all of those patterns, that entity would need to contain, or "know" those patterns, e.g. omniscient. I've forgotten how it reaches the conclusion that such an entity would be omnibenevolent, but it uses a definition of 'good' that is valid, but not what people think of when they hear "God is good".
