it looks pretty complicated

probably gonna be a lot of delamination because i still haven't got around to building a hot air chamber for my printer and only have ABS and TPU on hand

as far as just detail along xy though it's nothing my printer can't handle

happens with ABS on tall printd because temperature differential between nozzle and ambient air and between bed and ambient air causing the plastic to cool at different rates along z

shrinks as it cools, leading to delamination if one layer cools much faster than another

same reason people get curling corners on ABS

a heated chamber solves this, and it's not difficult to make one, i just

haven't got around to it yet

i'd want it clear, so it'd either be polycarbonate sheet since the air isn't getting to 147C in there anyway or if i wanna get really fancy pyrex

either would cost a few hundred bucks to build a big enough box

PC is the cheaper option and i'm looking at ~$300 for just the box, the electronics is another $50-$100 depending on how even i wanna bother making the heating

and if i do it i'm going all out with a permanganate air scrubber so i can print PEEK and POM and PVC and all those other scary "Vent gases that can actually kill you when heated past melting point" plastics

so there's another couple hundred bucks

if you wanna make guns grab a used vertical mill and a lathe

@johnfrum i mean i could just make a cheap plywood box with plexiglass on the front but it's handy to be able to see the part from a bunch of angles as it's printing

also i may buy stuff from china but i don't live there, can't just dump cancer-gas out the window
