2020-12-13 19:37:08 UTC

Shadows on the wall

The reason is because you may understand what you're saying, but you don't understand what I'm saying. You're missing the fact that the very language you're using, is defined by Christianity. The very term morals is a matter of law. The very essence of good vs bad is judgment, and the thing that separates them is a standard, that standard is law. Even when you say that it just benefits our society, you're still making an ontological claim that leads to God. Nothing in nature is good or bad, only you're judgment. No animal does this, hence 'homosapien', ie single species of wisdom. Why? Because moral reasoning is unique to humans, because we aren't made in the likeness of animals, but God.

2020-12-13 19:38:17 UTC

Good afternoon, Sunday afternoon.

2020-12-13 19:38:30 UTC

You guys should read the Smoking Shadow theory from ancient greek

2020-12-13 19:38:40 UTC

Very true. Very very true.

2020-12-13 19:38:47 UTC

You guys like snap chat.

2020-12-13 19:40:15 UTC

Eric Swawell, More like Eric Swallow

2020-12-13 19:40:19 UTC

A mathematician once made a theory that if you believe in God and he isn't real you lose nothing, but if he is real and you don't believe in God you lose something.

2020-12-13 19:40:48 UTC

Trying to derive morals from nature is like to get gold from lead.

2020-12-13 19:40:51 UTC

So this is where I'm at a point that I don't feel comfortable discussing this in a general chat, not because I am not up for it, but I don't want to be put in a bin with 'those atheists,' that just argue because they are ideological militants. I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding of how I view the world though and I'd be happy to talk more in dms.

2020-12-13 19:41:21 UTC

That was Loui Pascal, called Pascal's wager

2020-12-13 19:41:45 UTC

depending on where it takes place that may also end badly

2020-12-13 19:42:08 UTC

2020-12-13 19:42:27 UTC

why does the zedcast video not work

2020-12-13 19:42:40 UTC

Wouldn’t be bacon. Would be fish.

2020-12-13 19:43:14 UTC

Bacon is made from ham

2020-12-13 19:43:17 UTC

Or pig

2020-12-13 19:43:19 UTC

Debating is not typically helpful. The only helpful thing it can do is show where you need to learn something.

2020-12-13 19:43:34 UTC

what are yall talking abt now

2020-12-13 19:43:41 UTC

how bad u smell

2020-12-13 19:43:43 UTC

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I just joined

2020-12-13 19:43:46 UTC

Well again I feel like my points have been mischaracterized to some extent (not saying you did it on purpose you seem really cool) just I generally dislike being that

2020-12-13 19:43:48 UTC

If most of our ideals are imaginary and we believe in them, are they not real in our own perspective?

2020-12-13 19:43:56 UTC

Bet you don't even take a shower everyday

2020-12-13 19:44:03 UTC

ok

2020-12-13 19:44:13 UTC

Alr

2020-12-13 19:44:22 UTC

I also didn't mean to sound like I was calling for a debate. I simply think I have failed to explain my points and they would need to be laid out in a different fashion to be understood properly

2020-12-13 19:44:43 UTC

My best friend is a mormon and we've had a lot of verrrry long discussions on where we come from. . .

2020-12-13 19:44:45 UTC

The concept of thought isn’t real. You can’t measure thought. ~~electrical activity in brain maybe~~

2020-12-13 19:44:53 UTC

lol

2020-12-13 19:45:09 UTC

It’s hypocrisy

2020-12-13 19:45:15 UTC

The entire thing you guys are debating is based entirely on world views which if the people debating have different ones they won’t be able to come to agreement. Just take the ken ham vs bill nye debate. It ended without an agreement because of worldview not because of the lack of good examples

2020-12-13 19:45:17 UTC

I am of the belief that Islam needs reform

2020-12-13 19:45:33 UTC

I mean it’s literally one of the only religions which hasn’t yet
