and diy it to perfection
but armor plates cost so much ;_;
If you have a forklift and a torch you can probably scrap the armour from a non functional armoured vehicle
nah cutting armor plates is even more PITA even with wate&sand jet
and torch would ruin the plates
Right, the temper
What about chinkshit steel plate?
hmm alibaba
If you live near a rail hub or a major port it would be possibel
i do
1000 per metric ton
quite shitty price from BHW500
How thick are you getting it?
Layering thinner plates might be more economical
And easier to work with
if i were to do it i would need to test it with 7.62
sooo aprox 15mm tops
20mm for sure but weight...
54r?
Because I'm pretty sure 10mm of plate would take care of 99% of 7.62 x39 ammo
depends if you want to prevent warping%
thoo 7.62 iirc does penetrate 8mm of RHA armor plates
@300m
sooo~
or was it 7mm plates
cant remember
(those are for AP rounds*)
Steel body armour in the US is about 10mm with antispall coating (truck bed liner), I think
tho if i consider those plates would be between the outer and inner wallpanels the 7.62 would still penetrate reinforcement beams and just make the car "tincan with superball in it"
composites cost a shitton
Oh, nvm, you're talking about armour piercing
aluminium alloys are option but they are not that good (only for small arms fire)
(>implying my sprinter would ever see weapons outside of gunrange and controlled testing)
and i dont think i can could never afford composites or DU-Composites
If you're trying to stop armour pericong ammo you're fighting a losing battle
i know
but wondering how fucking heavy would AP-resistant (not proof) sprinter be
tho apparently RHA costs around 1k dollars for metric ton
Think it would depend on what and how you armour
