Listen to this: I just remembered back in 2016 on these big news/politics subreddits they had a rule that said, "No accusing people of being shills." This was around when it was discovered that Hillary was spending big bucks on an astroturfing campaign. These rules disappeared around when it was alleged that Russia was controlling bots to influence the election. Now on every Trump supporting comment you see a reply like, "just found the russian bot."
