well it's an honors course, so critical thinking *should* be rewarded, but I think the majority of the answer is the example rather than the premise that ignorance is like a prison. I think the best approach would be to point out not that ignorance has consequences, but rather that ignorance can *limit your personal freedoms* in some way, since the comparison is to a prison.

Alternatively, you could point out that ignorance somehow limits your powers of perception, if you want to use the cave comparison rather than the prison comparison. *blinded to the truth* or something to that effect.
