believe it or not, I've had some SATA cables just shit the bed out of nowhere
my SSD kept dropping in and out and the OS would just freeze
I'm on a laptop, and the computer recognizes the drive, and I can use it notmslly
Normally
But it won't let me boot to it
On Lenovo laptop
<:chink:323022148870602752>
Or boot to USB device
The bootlist ONLY shows the HDD it came with
I don't know what I'm missing. The BIOs is pretty barebones compared to my desktop
Is there a boot BBS option in your BIOS/UEFI
you'd need to select the SSD in that first, if so
Nope I don't see that
I've been at this for hours. Just installing Windows doesn't work, as it will always install on same drive (but I remember being asked back in the day...)
I cloned it to the ssd and usb, but can't boot
I don't remember it being this hard on all the other PC. This Lenovo is giving me issues...
Odd indeed.
I had zero problems at all just cloning a Windows drive using 'dd'.
That computer doesn't use UEFI though, if that makes any difference whatsoever.
depends if you dd'd the partition or the disk entirely
The entire disk, in my case.
Or perhaps I should say drive, as it was not a disk drive. <:thvnk:332928260004642827>
The partition isn't marked as bootable in disk management
Fix that then. 👍🏻
It is active though . I can use it np
How do I do that? Disk management ?
maybe
gparted has it for sure
Fuck if I know.
Yeah.
There's some command line tool for Windows too.
But I don't remember what it's called.
not fdisk
there was another one
diskpart
👍🏻
o ya
According to the DuckDuckGo.
that's it
