He asked a foreign government to investigate a political rival in the middle of a campaign. It's pretty much textbook ill-advised.

It used to be understood that if the President needed to address the people, then he gets air time. I am looking to see if there are any laws about it. Under the current circumstances of Leftist social media and MSM controlling the flow of news to the public, I think we are in great danger. MSM and social media have been working in unison to censor everyone they don't agree with. In essence they have sole possession of the keys to the castle doors and gates. (...and they are acting like an out-of-control. tantrum-ing, bossy little sister who desires complete control over you.)

Interesting read: https://reason.com/volokh/2020/04/07/fcc-rejects-petition-to-censor-broadcasts-of-president-trumps-coronavirus-press-conferences-and-other-speech/

The founders understood that rights come with responsibilities. With the right to a free press comes the responsibility to tell the truth.

2021-01-08 03:19:37 UTC

Like China and the British??? ok got it...

2021-01-08 03:19:39 UTC

I hate whataboutisms, but I can't help but point out that the Kenneth Starr investigation into Whitewater lasted twice as long, cost twice as much (adjusted for inflation), and only found that Clinton was a ruled by his sexual desires. So, we obviously never learn.

2021-01-08 03:20:00 UTC

No read this @ShittyKitty

2021-01-08 03:21:46 UTC

The recent war started in 2014 @ShittyKitty

2021-01-08 03:24:04 UTC

2021-01-08 03:25:09 UTC
2021-01-08 03:25:17 UTC

seems that what we learn from these investigations is always something we should have already known

2021-01-08 03:26:00 UTC

@ShittyKitty so what? They are at war now

2021-01-08 03:26:11 UTC

Thank you for your response... This is the type of discourse I really enjoy. You are correct that part of being awarded the use of broadcast frequencies for television and radio that there were certain requirements regarding providing access for national broadcasts. They also had to adhere to the Fairness Doctrine that required a news organization to present all viewpoints and perspectives - and provide equal time for opinion content. That was eliminated in the late 80's I believe.

I don't think that any such requirements were ever imposed on print media, though. Since Social media platforms are not analogous to broadcast stations, I do not think that the same requirements apply. I think that we might need an NPR-like social media platform that the government can use to disseminate information without being beholden to the whims of private companies. I hadn't thought it through that far, so thanks for sharing your perspective.

2021-01-08 03:27:47 UTC

I actually agree with one of your opinions lol

2021-01-08 03:28:04 UTC

cannot be government though
