In terms of getting through this pandemic, probably yeah. Considering UBI takes into consideration everything else in the economy and the cost of living whereas the stimulus is temporary
Not much of an argument there
Long term, neither are feasible
True!
So we probably agree on that one xD
But if we are talking about the short term universal basic income will better sustain our economy
Prob Lol
Still
Many people on the Right refuse to accept it because of the Leftist stigma surrounding it
Yes short term UBI would be more reliable for everyone out of work
It's just not feasible for long term
Stimulus package is just a lot of hopeful wishing and waiting
But we also need to find a way to decrease it and promote a return to the work force
So people dont become too dependant on it once covid blows over
While UBI keeps our economy treading water until we recover
Exactly
Because so far many people have been struggling horribly due to loss of work and businesses have had to close permanently
Yep!
Yes I also agree
UBI is better in that case
Without giving it much thought
If UBI was implemented, more work would go into it
Im sure they did give it a lot of thought but honestly, a stimulus package doesnt do anything long term. Thats where the flaw is
In other words, They didn’t learn from the recession & are implementing the same ideas to something different
ORRRRR we could not close down the economy
And put priority on the elderly or those most vulnerable
@Mystika What do you mean by Priority?
Now I dont like closing the economy; however, if done, it should be state by state basis, or even county by county, and should have been done sooner to halt the spread. Even with them promoting lockdowns, they did it way too late for it to really be effective.
Agreed!
This isn’t really a debate anymore Lol
It’s just stating facts that are cut from the same cloth
Well I work in healthcare
I mean putting priority on long term care facilities or senior homes
Putting more restrictions on the vulnerable
Yes, thats where the death toll really is
Because many younger people have gotten it and have been able to isolate at home and get over it
I’m still a student so I experience so I don’t really benefit or lose anything from closures
But then people would have issue with just restricting a certain group of people
The fact that people are getting arrested for keeping their businesses open is bewildering to me
No I just meant I work in healthcare so I see the type of people who have to get hospitalized due to covid vs those who don't have to
