Especially before modernity. But even now it exists. The struggle for survival. If we were not struggling for survival and for the future generations, we would have never invented agriculture.
not at all
how so
because the true way is obedience to God and that God will provide and that God's is perfectly ordered and even in the beginning before Man fell due to the lies of the animal and the world, that Man was good and that he was like God being in God's image
it's only after Man succumbs to the world and becomes more and more worldly that he strays from God and loses his godlikeness
once they cleave to lies, that's when the Struggle begins, but in the Truth there is no Struggle
I fundamentally disagree with that honestly.
Life itself is a struggle. Knowing and receiving God aids us in our struggle.
Because we know how to order a society, among other things.
no because that's not the true life
it will end in death because they were tainted by the world
Well we all meet our end in death.
but the true life is in God, and we see when God destroys the earth and the righteous live in New Jerusalem there will be no struggle, there will be no death
One could say that us discovering microbiology. Really really was a big leap in our struggle for survival on this planet.
That frankly seeks to kill you.
the struggle for survival is an artificial struggle, that is it is a lie to make them conform more and more to the earth
> but the true life is in God, and we see when God destroys the earth and the righteous live in New Jerusalem there will be no struggle, there will be no death
@Japheth
I agree with this but until that day.
We must live as we are, while knowing God of course.
And striving to live up to that end.
Survival isn't the foremost important thing by any means. But it certainly cannot be ignored.
no you can't strive against the Maker, because that is what the earth does and that's why it will be destroyed
If even just to spread the word of God. You have to be alive for example, to spread the word of God itself.
Which he does call us to do.
To make ourselves missionaries of his Word.
yea but to do that rather than struggle against God, one must instead surrender and obey
there is no struggle in obedience
Absolutely there is. Do you not think Jesus himself was struggling in his encounter with Satan himself? In the desert?
and if you were in that situation you'd struggle a lot more then jesus did
thats for sure.
Because the desert with no food for 40+ days is quite hot. haha and exhausting. No earthly man could have resisted such a thing, I am confident of that. Which is why Jesus did it, to show that there is something greater. and it is him. But that it does play a role. otherwise why starve himself?
It proves the point.
no Jesus didn't struggle with Satan at all, he very firmly resisted him, I would even note look how Satan tempt him to struggle with very earthly things (offer him the kigndoms of the earth, offer him bread, even try to get him to kill himself)
Right but that's the son of God. And him resisting in that moment firmly shows how he was not of this world.
But we are
and then look what happen after, Satan fled, and Jesus didn't struggle to survive, but the angels themselves came and administered to his needs
to a certain extent
being gods offspring
demigods really
> and then look what happen after, Satan fled, and Jesus didn't struggle to survive, but the angels themselves came and administered to his needs
@Japheth
Right but that is Jesus, do you not think it being the son of God is unique in that circumstance?
i'd say another example since you're right Jesus is from above and is the Word of God, look at the prophet Elijah a mere man just like us
was he a disciple
