you don't need to have knowledge of the Bible technically, but iti s helpful
I don’t know if I’ve actually formulated what a bible verse has actually had meant using different words
I’ve only ever said that a bible verse spoke to me due to it being simaler to something that happened to me in life
oh i see what you mean
But I have thoughts that we should only acknowledge it for what the context is
how do you mean?
When I read the words it should only pertain to the theme of the book
I shouldn’t take a scripture and explain it in different words
If someone doesn’t understand it then suffa
Next time I study the bible I’m not explaining what it means
I’ll outright tell them
oh lol well kinda, i mean you can say the same thing in different words obviously, like obviously there's a difference in middle english comapred to modern english though the words still mean the same thing
ie: saying you instead of thee
Not that
When someone reads a verse and says what it means in their own words explaining the sentence so someone understands it, making it easier for the other person
I find that people don’t even ask what the verse means and the person is explaining it to them
yea i see what you mean, i think it's okay to talk about the verses, but yea i think it's true a lot of people, especialyl churches of stone i notice, they'll explain away a verse or passage to the point that it doesn't even mean what it says anymore
Haha
The word is too good to babble on about
Respect that you don’t know anything about it
well you can know, that's probably a big reason why the various people wrote it down lol
Greater works that he shall do but we sit here and chat about how a bible verse means to me
i think bible teachers are more helpful when they cross-reference to tie it all together, rather than just talking about what they think it means
every church of stone's Bible teacher i encountered never read the entire Bible, which i found sort of ironic, and then a good number of them simply cannot beleive half of what it says
and you're right Chase, that's a good point
I have thought and feelings about how it is demeaning to tell someone about the bible
In their own words
With cross referencing
lol sean
well i think cross-referencing is important
to contextualize concepts
well i think explaining the Bible in your own words is okay i mean the alternative is jus biblethump out the verses, which i mean i personalyl am okay with that too, but i notice soem online communities are not so favorable towards this
Cross referencing has nothing to do with it, I don’t like anyone gaining anything from telling me anything about the bible that they explain
In any form
oh
Peddlers of the word for their own gain
oh well if that's the case you don't have to worry about that, the teller gains nothing, the reader or the listener is the one that gains something
Just tell me the bible is good
unless of course the speaker is paid
