What on earth...
The structure of the US Military shares many of the characteristics of socialism. Fixed pay, free healthcare, GI's are literally considered legal property of the state... Our military is arguably the best in the world - despite and more likely because of this structure.

@SPEARS I was reacting to the false dichotomy that all aspects of socialism are bad. We have a mixed structure that includes aspects of socialism and have from the start. The left trying to win every argument by calling conservatives fascists or authoritarians is just as bad as the right calling all liberals socialist and commies. It's counterproductive to what we can accomplish otherwise.
